Art piece: Mechan 9 

Mechan 9 is the newest creation from Tyler FuQua Creations.  It is a giant fallen metal robot that is half-buried in the ground.  Over thirty five feet in diameter and six feet tall at his heart chamber, Mechan 9 is shrouded in mystery!  Decode the strange text on his body to reveal the secrets of not only his past, but of the universe as well.  Mechan 9 was built by an amazing crew and with the help of a Burning Man art grant in 2016 where it made its debut.

How is September treating you so far? We love this month. The season changes slowly on our side of the world. The summer ends. And even though we will soon swap the heat and sunshine for cold and rain, we find comfort in this month. As if we can reset, get to work, move mountains, change the world. 

Right?

Before you a set that we have been looking forward to the first part of this year. We have asked our good friend Concret to close the main stage of The Monastery on the Sunday. A big honour that we granted this remarkable musician for his impeccable sound. 

On the day itself it all seemed promising. 
He was ready.
We were ready.
But as the misfortune struck, we had to reduce the sound. 

The recording finally gives the artist the sound he deserves. Get in a studio, put on your best headphones, because this set is absolutely and without a shadow of a doubt one of the best sets recorded at The Monastery.

The Monastery 2018 - Concret at The Monastery Stage

Today’s cocktail got lots of Scandinavian spirit! Danish electronica newcomers BYLJA, consisting of Marchel Mørk & Emil Aagaard, is presenting the Scandinavian version of the Moscow Mule, the “Nordic Mule”.

BYLJA is one of those acts we stumbled upon while browsing through the endless stream in the cloud of sounds. The project has just debuted in Denmark and is not yet one year old. Marchel and Emil have released one track as of today, this gem is called “LAKI”. It was love at first sight. Or, better, at first hear. The track transports such an incredible atmosphere of melancholic, ambient but at the same time uplifting melodies. It was clear we wanted BYLJA on board and we are super happy they mixed their first mixtape for Schirmchendrink!

Marchel Emil share an enthusiastic passion for electro-acoustic ambient house music, which they give a personal and Nordic touch through BYLJA. With musical inspiration from artists such as Kiasmos, Bonobo and Moderate, BYLJA moves in a world of melancholy, well thought compositions and magnificent sound surfaces. At the same time, BYLJA's sound universe has deep roots in the house music, from which
they include rich bass and distinctive drums.

BYLJA's sound is characterized by a natural fusion of the digital and the analogue. Both computers and analog synthesizers, acoustic piano, guitar and bass form the frame of the duo's organic sound.

Their Nordic Mule contains fantastic unreleased productions of the duo. Can you guess where they are hidden? We are so much looking forward for those pearls to be released…and more coming from BYLJA soon!

Based in LA and member of Akashic Records & Borderless Project, he continues to craft the rich tunes and beats venerable of a resplendent, nomadic lifestyle. 
  
He gained interest and impeccable taste in music through the influence of the all too famous Hard Pop and the ever growing popularity of the electronic music genre. His sets are dosed with vibrant electronica, cutting edge techno, and ethereal house with the sudden, magnetic rhythm of tribal house and riveting minimal.
 
With his expertly poised taste in powerful tracks and a series of his own produced mixes, he has moved hundreds, from southwest desert parties, to upscale clubs and has opened for talent such as Sasha, Black Coffee, Frank & Tony, Einmusik, Sandrino, and Voigtmann amongs others. Artur and his longtime friend h.Tor. have formed a collaboration under their alias, le chat noir.
  
Artur's musical selection doesn't end with techno and house.
