'MOSS, is a curated collaborative album from members of rgms consisting of tracks designed for meditation. This album was inspired in response to the seemingly rather monotonous tone of most meditation music found online today. Here, the aim is to explore a wide variety of states of being possible within the meditative posture. Herein, we have tracks, which lilt us in a gentle state of at onement, others which guide us through strange lands and circular quests, yet others still which take us to that part of ourselves we have not visited in a while, and while our initial urge may be to resist, the vibrations coax us to stay and have a look around for a little while, until we might find this once unfavorable place not at all too unbecoming.'

A live recording of the premiere of "asleep, forest, melody, path" for field recordings and live performance (2013), written for Greg Stuart. The field recordings were made in the Congaree National Park in 2012 and 2013. Greg assembled an ensemble of 30 local musicians for the concert, which took place on November 18, 2013, at the Columbia Museum of Art in South Carolina.

asleep, forest, melody, path (for field recording and live performance, 2013)

Peaceful clear night, around midnight, near small pond (photo) in forest near the Ouachita Trail in Arkansas.   Zoom F3, Lom Usi Pro mics.   Modifications to original file were a 5 dB gain increase,  -10 dB low shelf at 150 Hz and fade-in/out.  Distant highway and city noises can be heard in background.  I chose not to filter out the highway sounds, but only to attenuate the lowest frequencies (< 200 Hz) that seem exaggerated by the recording setup.

May 06, 2022 midnight frog chorus at pond near Ouachita Trail

The main goal of my trip to Lorraine in the east of France was to record Common Midwife Toads. The location was an old disused quarry just outside Lérouville and knowing the toads begin calling after dusk, I arrived early to have time to scope out the location. I was immediately greeted by a group of very vocal Pool Frogs, their calls echoing around the quarry. I captured this recording much later that night, just after midnight.

On ebay I shot an old, rancid, scuffed Casio PT-1 as a restoration object for the holidays. It came yesterday and at the same time the disquiet junto mail came in. And it worked. Ah, I liked these rhumba rhythms like I did 40 years ago. Originally I just wanted to contribute that. But then I recorded a 4 bar loop and used 4 tracks on reaper to play around with some fx. I exported it and gave it some structure in Reaper.  It's now only the original loop plus fx. I think there is plenty of room for a second voice. 

The pure PT-1 is hearable in the beginning. I also put the original loop to https://freesound.org/people/krakenkraft/sounds/665090/ 

It's plain vanilla 120bpms.
