The summer rainstorm lazed overhead as adrenaline flowed through the boy's wrists, thumbs twisting with the quickness of a soldier and mind racing like that of a general. Before him lay the final obstacle on his path to freedom, glory, and savior - a monster so grotesque such to the point that its name not be spoken by mortal men. Fatigued and weary, the boy trekked further into the dank depths of the dungeon to slay this demon, understanding that to fail would mean a hundred years of pain for his people. 

Thunder rumbled in the distance outside his window as the incandescent streetlights flickered on in the blue-gray light. It wouldn't be long before moments like these would disappear into misty memories and shadowy pasts. A small glance and a deep breath. A reset. The boy continues on...

Although the original beat for Doomsday definitely has a hint of sadness to it, I made it more upfront here for my remix with the strings and melodies. I also kept that smooth vibe, choosing this sample for that reason, the bassline especially had a nice flow from the chops I sequenced. 

I knew I was going to sample Sade for this beat to keep the atmosphere and vibe reminiscent of the original, and tried flipping tracks from all of her albums. This was like my 4th attempt at and it was by far my favourite, definitely a chilled vibe to calmly reflect on the classic track that I'm remixing. I put it at the start of the album for that reason, wanted to gradually build into the rest of the project which had higher energy and a bigger focus on celebrating DOOM. Hope people enjoy the instrumental of this one!

This is the original pitch of the sample, always liked how this one sounded despite pitching it down for 'Just Zone'. That tone fit the Nas acapella well, but for this version I like how both beats have their different vibes that lead into each other, first one being more light and airy, with the pitch down making the beat a bit darker and grimier, as expected really.
