In an effort to advance the pair's "future soul" pursuit, Noah Marion and Harrison Watkins today gift "Montego Breeze" to the masses. Proper Motion, a production duo out of Boulder, CO keeps one foot planted in the past, and the other pointing forward, as contemporary beats blend effortlessly with throwback stylings.

Proper Motion will be playing the SOULS RISING stage at ARISE Music Festival, August 8-10 at Sunrise Valley Ranch in Loveland, CO. The stage is a joint between The Untz and the artist collective Souls In Action, of which Proper Motion counts itself a member.

Quicky edit/flip of an old P@UL S1M0N classic. I love the original tune and the words he sings within. There's a lovely kind of 'fuck-it' style optimism to them. The whole sentiment of the tune seems to apply more than ever today, decades later. I was moved to tinker around with it in the midst of recording songs for my upcoming album. Smile while the world goes off its hinges. New album 'Proxima' coming in early 2017. Peace!

“Momento,” is a crossover track that blends the virtuosity of bebop with a drum n’ bass backbeat. This release from J.E.D.I. on Color Red epitomizes every single aspect of the band’s acronymic name “Jazz Electronic Dance Improvised.” There’s the jazzy flavor reminiscent of Tony Williams in the Miles Davis fusion era. There’s a signature drum ’n' bass tempo that will transport you to a London warehouse in the early 90s and there’s plenty of improvisation, best highlighted through the sax solo by Dominic Lalli. Above all, the track serves as a “momento,”—a sonic depiction of embracing the moment and a new keepsake that encompasses the past, present, and future in one.
