These are rough bounces of the a home recording project that I've been eternally working on, a collection of the türküler (Turkish folk songs) that have most inspired me over the years as I've learned how to play bağlama saz, cümbüş, kaval, darbuka and davul. I never intended that these pieces be instruments ... but just try finding someone who can sing in Turkish in Richmond, Virginia.

I started working on this song the weekend of the Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville, sickened and horrified by both the craven murder of Heather Heyer by a white supremacist, and by the cowardly beating of a Channel 6 cameraman by antiracist counter-protesters on West Broad Street in Richmond.
