As usual we want you to meet the artist behind the music, in this case Laura aka @lola-villa-musica so we asked her some questions:

1) What is your favorite book to read?,
I love Audre Lorde’s essays. I always come back to essays by her, and other inspiring writers whenever I feel lost or disheartened about the world.

2) If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have? I would like to have the power of bewilderment at life and at the universe, to have the mindset of a child more often. I feel like children are such incredible humans, we should learn from their superpowers more often.

3) What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)? I think I was at Fusion 2016. I took so much LSD that I stayed awake for about 36 hours. I was so trippy, I was scared of my own sleep so I stayed up for as long as the trip lasted.

PREMIÈRE: Tayr Anour & RAiK - Just give Love (Polymer Remix)

Our latest release is a three-track EP from Prismatica who is a Mexican artist returning to Baikal Nomads following the success of his solo release on the imprint in 2019. This much-anticipated follow-up blends the melodic progression of trippy synths with crisp percussion and deep atmosphere.

Trademark to Prismatica's style, the downtempo grooves are stripped back and techy with mesmerising atmospherics that is full of suspense. He has also been featured on other labels like MONADA, Shango Records, FrequenSeed Music and Kosa.

Demian Lara aka Prismatica is based in the town of Tepoztlán and has also released other styles of music under the aliases cirQular, DJ Sáeg and Pro.tone. He plays regular DJ sets in Mexico under his various aliases and has also travelled internationally to play events in places such as Europe and South America.

"Interval" opens the release with vocal textures and organic percussion that intermingles with a lurching bassline and synth stabs that are washed in reverb.

"Instinct" has a twinkling textures and dramatic chords that intertwine with ethereal vocals to create a compelling atmosphere that's underpinned by flowing percussion.

"Iridiscent" has an uplifting mood with shimmering melodies and dreamy synths that create a soothing atmosphere with a groovy bassline that provides forward momentum with the help of shuffling percussion rhythms.

The album “El sueño sobre el Sueño” is like a book with several chapters, or like a miniseries with several episodes. There are 10 tracks that propose diverse imaginaries; many guest singers who helped to give voice to the stories; diversity of rhythms and densities; and a lot of approach to the song. It flirts with folklore (implementing melodies harmonized by thirds), blues and electronic music in more lethargic and climatic beats than in Barda's previous works. 

We already knew the previews of this album Rama en el Rio (feat Gus Goncalves) and Naranja el Cielo (feat Aldo Benítez and Brawlio). Also participating is singer, songwriter and guitarist Manuela de las Casas on the track Versos en la Arena  and the great Luvi Torres on the title track, El sueño sobre el sueño.

Barda feat. Manuela de Las Casas - Versos en la Arena [Fértil Discos]

We as Human Beings are truly not in control in the greater sense of Meaning. The realization that there is so much that we do not understand and how we can only barely grasp our own full potential as well as the complexity of the infinite workings of the universe. 

Personal experience has led to believe that trying to control what is uncontrollable, grasp what is beyond reach is rooted in the deep dissatisfaction caused by Lack of Love. Whether that has been lacking since childhood, caused by heartbreak, a lack of Self Love, Purpose, or lack of God in any shape or form.

Simply realizing this can be consoling in itself in times when we fight this feeling of unrest by attempting to numb it or by distracting ourselves without allowing yourself the chance to just Be. Without offering any solution or answer, simply communicating this universal Human need for love through music, could be enough for one to feel like "It's ok".
