Jol is water in Bangla. We took the inspiration for the name from the 1300 rivers that crisscross our country. In Bangladesh, water controls our lives and livelihood. So we believe as the sons of this soil our spiritual and emotional awareness was originated from water, thus we are Joler Gaan, music of the water. and also to touch souls. People can connect to music more than they can connect to any other form of art. It all began in 2006 when Joler Gaan went to participate in the World Sufi Festival, Glasgow, Scotland. We performed in various places in Scotland, played mystical spiritual songs of Old Masters and few of our own songs. We also performed in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

বয়স বাড়ছে, টাক পড়ছে, চোখে চালশে, পেটে চর্বি!
মনের ভিতরে একটা অশান্তি, আর জিহ্বার তলায় সর্বক্ষণ একটা তেতো স্বাদ। 
আমার এই শহর থেকে আমার এই যাবতীয় গান, কিন্তু বয়সের সঙ্গে আমার শহরও পাল্টেছে, অন্তত আমার কাছে! তাই আমারও গানের বয়সও হয়তো বাড়ছে।

মেঘ জমেছে আবার আকাশে, ভীড় জমেছে ফুটপাথের ধারে...
ডাকছে আবার নিয়ন আলো তোমাকে আমাকে সন্ধ্যে নামছে ক্ষ্যাপা শহরে।
ভুলতে চাইছে শ্যামলেন্দু হেরে যাওয়ার জ্বালা  মাত্র দেড়শ টাকা বাড়লো ইনক্রিমেন্ট, 
ভুলতে চাইছে মাধবী তার শুভ দৃষ্টির মালা কিন্তু চাকরি হচ্ছে না যে পার্মানেন্ট।
ভুলতে চাইছে সকলেই সকলের যন্ত্রনা কত সপ্ন হয়ে যাচ্ছেই যে বেহাল...
তাই কিছুক্ষনের জন্য নেমে আসছে এই শহরে ভুলে থাকার একটা ক্ষ্যাপা রাত!

ভুলে ভরা ভুল ভুলাইয়া, অলিগলিতে বাড়ছে ভুলে থাকার বাজার দর
ভুলে ভরা জীবনগুলো বুকে করে নিয়ে চলছে আমার ক্ষ্যাপাটে শহর।
চাইছে কিনতে মনটা মোবাইল টেলিফোনটা কিন্তু পকেট বড়ই বড় কমজুরি,
তাই কিনে ফেলতে হলো, কিছু কিনতে হবে বলে ফুটপাথের প্লাস্টিকের ঘড়ি।
যতই সন্ধ্যে বাড়ে ভুলে থাকার নেশাটাকে দমিয়ে রাখা বড়ই মুশকিল,
তাই কিনে ফেললো শশী একটা লাল রঙের শিশি নয়নিকা নতুন হাই হিল।
কিনছে সবাই কিনছে কি কিনছে জানে না কিনছে গোটা ধর্মতলার মোড়,
এই কেনাকাটির খেলায় ভুলে থাকছি মনের জ্বালা হেরে যাওয়া ক্ষ্যাপাটে শহর।
একটু নেশা বেশামাল কথা... জড়িয়ে যাচ্ছে বাড়ি ফেরার পাথ,
তাই কিনে ফেললো সোমনাথ নেশার অজুহাতে এই ক্ষ্যাপা শহরের রাস্তাঘাট।
