A fusion of hip hop and mantra, this track speaks about the powerful self accountability one has. Atma Kritam Vipakam is a prayer and reminder to always accept the reactions to our actions as part of our own karma and responsibility. Rather than being the victim, we can become victorious and fully accountable. This type of responsibility and self accountability becomes a blessing that transmutes all difficulty into opportunity for growth and transformation.

It is part of a sanskrit verse from the sacred text Srimad Bhagavatam, 10.14.8. Atma Kritam Vipakam means, "I am the cause of my own suffering". When we can take that full ownership and continue to remain optimistic, humble, and in service to the divine we will always be victorious and also therefore, become the cause of our own happiness.

Translation:
"My dear Lord, one who constantly waits for Your causeless mercy to be bestowed upon him and who goes on suffering the reactions of his past misdeeds, offering You respectful obeisances from the core of his heart, is surely eligible for liberation, for it has become his rightful claim."

Purport from Srimad Bhagavatam describing this verse:
The purport of this verse is that when a devotee is in a calamitous condition he takes it as a benediction of the Supreme Lord and takes responsibility himself for his past misdeeds. In such a condition, he offers still more devotional service and is not disturbed. One who lives in such a disposition of mind, engaged in devotional service, is the most eligible candidate for promotion to the spiritual world.

Lapositive is a 26 year old composer/performer from Santa Cruz, CA and Co-Founder of Renascence Festival. Originally born an raised in Los Angeles, he grew up surrounded by the music industry and entertainment business. From a young age he was encouraged to sing/play instruments and participate in musical theatre. Rather than compose songs using samples, he synthesizes and/or records all of the sounds that can be heard in his music. He plays trumpet, guitar, keyboard, and sings. His live sets consist of blending/processing pre-recorded sounds and live instruments. He likes to feature many talented musicians and incorporate their sounds into his both his sets and recordings. His music defies most typical genre assignments and is often described as downtempo, founded in hip-hop, bass, funk, jazz, and EDM. Lapositive attended UC Santa Cruz and got a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Electronic Music. The electronic music program provided instruction in advanced skills of audio production, sound synthesis, composition, and computer-assisted/algorithmic composition. He learned to build from scratch both speakers and microphones, took coding classes on Python, SuperCollider, Pure Data, Max/MaxMSP Jitter, and synthesis/recording classes on recording/mixing in Pro Tools, Ableton, Logic, Reaper, etc. He learned quickly how to use rack mount synthesizers, Digital Audio Workstations, and process audio to his liking. The tools he acquired allowed him to begin to translate sounds from his mind, into music.
