Joining us for our latest episode of Distant Grooves is the incredibly talented Sobek who has been has been crafting a unique sound within the realms of House and Techno. Whether it be deconstructing glossy polished originals with his unrivaled remixing talent, or days spent in the studio creating innovative and thought provoking original music across many sub genres, his sound simply has no boundaries.

With releases on credible imprints such as Monaberry, Chapter 24, TAU and MoBlack along with sought after remixes on Still vor Talent, Get Physical, Needwant, Sobek has picked up support from some of the biggest names on the scene including Pete Tong, Adam Port, Black Coffee and Adana Twins.

With a growing reputation for being a renowned DJ and record collector, Sobek has graced the decks at some of the worlds best clubs including Heart Ibiza and Faust Paris. He also runs his own party series in his home city of Budapest, which has welcomed the likes of Tunnelvisions. David Mayer and The Drifter to the Hungarian capital. 

We are excited to have him as a guest on the show and we hope that you will enjoy this stellar mix that he has put together. We also some very talented artists joining the Distant Grooves family in the coming months so stay tuned.

The World is Cancelled

In times where everything in our communities seems to be falling apart, we should all stand together. Staying positive and taking care of our loved ones and our surroundings is the best we can do for now. Living in fear isn’t going to help, especially bearing in mind that there are so many people out there who have struggled or are still undergoing wars, plagues and hunger throughout their whole lives. This is an opportunity to learn from this situation, to become more tolerant, present and mindful. Even if our input is limited to taking care of our families, friends and fellow community members. 

The music scene is being heavily impacted by this situation as we see more and more clubs and festivals shut down, but it’s not the end of the world. My contribution to making it that little bit better is this one hour mix  I share with you. The mix is filled with exclusive material that I’ve written in the last two years. Some of these tunes will see the light of day in the near future whilst others may never be released. As this mix is very personal to me, I’m sharing it with you to bring some joy and light in these dark times.

This is my prescription to you, whether you’re quarantined at home or anywhere else out there. Share the feeling around meanwhile the world is cancelled outside. 

Stay safe. Stay drunk on hope.
