Bristol-based producer, DJ and musician @iambruce, or Larry, is the first guest to send selections up to space to teach aliens about life on this planet. 

Larry is a musician who constantly explores and tests the boundaries of what is possible with sound, most recently exploring using shimmering vocals on his recent @timedance project.

Touching on the soundscapes of his breakthrough @hessleaudio production from as far back as 2014, and recent singing production, Larry sends tracks into the cosmos from school days and university afterparty anthems that have soundtracked his life. We get into discovering an ear for sound, the concept of authenticity, how music soothes cruelty and the power of vocal expression alongside playing records.

"Stranded, not in space, but far below the surface of an otherworldly ocean. Breathing does not seem to be an issue here. Water, or a liquid that resembles it, surrounds you. Glimmers of light from unknown sources dance around the environment, allowing for just enough visibility to make out the landscape. A place where the lines between synthetic and organic appear to be blurred, where life slinks and flows like the domain it inhabits. The space around you seems to breathe with every step as you fumble in the dim light. Impossible to know friend from foe, bizarre lifeforms curiously approach, un-afraid, as they have no reason to believe there is any threat present. The existence of shapes, colors, and behaviors beyond conventional understanding piques your curiosity and fear. With no knowledge of how this place came to be or how to survive in it, you set off into the vastness that surrounds you."

“I’ve been having a ton of fun exploring the 90-100 bpm range as I haven’t historically branched into that realm. I thought that a lot of the music I was enjoying at that tempo fit the concept of the mix series, so I wanted to see what I could do with it. It was a fun challenge using tracks I wouldn’t typically play out on a dance floor. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.”

I’m a dj, producer, and event organizer from Washington D.C. I find it very difficult to stick to a single style or tempo and I try to reflect that in all the work that I do. I’m incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so many talented, caring people that make up the dance music scene in D.C. and I find inspiration in that daily. In 10 years, I want to look back and know that I positively contributed to and deeply impacted the community that gave me chances to play music for them.
