Warmest welcome back to Chris with the new episode of his show “Descendants”, this time with the guest Asymmetrical !
Asymmetrical is the handyman of Raw Culture, an independent label focusing on raw sonorities, spacing from techno to ebm. Born in southern Italy, but raised with bread and sound of Rome of the early 10s, he gradually develops its aesthetic taste in a city full of experimentation and stimulation. His music advocates a different know-how and his DJ sets are very eclectic pearls that range in the sound panorama to the limit. He is resident for the 01 collective in Rome and he is also part of some other project such as Fauna53 (with LKSMN and LDWG) and in the past he was part of Distorted Portrait. Oh, if you hear about John English, it's always him for the Knick Knack Yoda's gang.

Between nostalgic atmospheres and pressing rhythms our "Console Cowboys", as Case, the hacker protagonist of the novel (with the difference that here by console we mean synth, drum machine and distortion), now transport us into the darkest abyss, now in the infinite luminous space.

If uncertainty was according to Zygmunt Bauman in 1999 one of the conditions characterizing the post-industrial society this is even more true today. We weren’t sure to return to tell you with sounds our vision of things but in the end here we are.
A two-track EP, "Pries Akis" by Shaknis & Egzotikka, is a journey in the uncertainty of relationships and love. It's a tale of the individualistic vision that feeds on narcissism and super-ego to exist. Decadence and nostalgic atmospheres, charged with positive energy, imprinted on both sides of a 7" ready to push you into your introspective leap. "Pries Akis" / "In Front of Your Eyes" EP was born between two producers from different backgrounds with similar tastes. Electro producer Shaknis inspired the early ideas of the EP using his analog equipment, creating a solid foundation for Egzotikka. A Cold Wave producer, guitarist, and songwriter formed the identity of this new analog post-punkish-sounding EP. 
80's instruments such as classic Roland drums, Polivox, and Fender guitars were used to create the modern Lo-fi sound filled with lyrics about narcissism, toxic relationships, and super-ego driven by a strong belief in a fucked up society. 

Recorded during the spring of 2022 in London, UK, and Šiauliai, Lithuania.

[RWCLTR021] Shaknis & Egzotikka - Pries Akis  [300 Limited Vinyl Edition]

From a research work started in full lockdown three years ago, finally sees the light (or darkness) Echi Senza Fine, a remastered collection of sound material by Tasaday.
Inspired by the controversial media story in 1971 of the discovery of a tribe in the Philippines that apparently had technology that had stood still in the Stone Age, the project officially borrows the name Tasaday in 1984 from the evolution of Nulla Perreale, in turn union of Die Form (musical part) & Orgasm Denied (performative part).
To put it in the words of Marcello Ambrosini, the Tasadays find in Die Form the controlled destruction of the form after its careful design and construction, while in Nulla Iperreale the spontaneity free from any possible superstructure. They declare themselves new primitives, not in the perspective of a nostalgic return to a pre-industrial or prehistoric external world, but in the exception of an inner experience in stark contrast to the leviathan of the single utilitarian thought that has dominated the West for centuries.
Their production-action does not allow itself to be tempted by the repetitiveness used by many industrial groups of those years, thus resulting seminal in the evolution of the scene. Their impulse to go further and not remain caged in the format of the new wave is witnessed by their particular sound vocabulary that sees, along with the use of conventional instruments, the use of DIY tools such as Chopper Vox and highly sui generis tools, like the Camolofono, cariole loaded with sheets, stones, tubes, chains and "garbage" of various shapes and sizes. 
A discography dotted with primordial electronic experiments that reaches the new millennium through several vinyl records and an endless number of cassettes. From this undefined and mysterious number of tapes that is born Echi Senza Fine: 14 tracks (+ 2 digital bonuses) remastered, collected by Asymmetrical, who also edited the release insert, a collage of visual and textual material from their fanzines. A series of 300 transparent vinyl + Insert.

Church Of The Poisoned Minds

[RWCLTR023] Anna Funk Damage - Church Of The Poisoned Minds [300 Limited Vinyl Edition]

In our little history, the number 7, besides a kind of esoteric fascination, has marked important milestones in our evolutionary journey. This is why Raw Culture has decided to pay homage in grand style to its seventh year as an independent sound guarantor. To do so, it weaves a co-production with Oderso Rubini, historical memory of the Italian New Wave and head of Italian Records in the 80s. Out of this synergy comes our 24th release, Ping Pong, a dancefloor of dissonant bounces, where free-form suggestions, electronics and rhythmic improvisation find synthesis in a high-intensity competitive match. Starting from the sampling of Korean ping pong matches and the voices of the speakers, Renzini and Passini build a framework where the sound or voice of the electronically harmonised hoover amalgamates with powerful and syncopated drumming, a sound experiment poised between improvisational heavy jazz and Korean-style electronics.
The record is ideally divided into two converging visions highlighting the duplicity of the game, side A or Master Ping collects the first improvisations made by the duo in 2018 leaving almost unchanged the improvisational spirit close to a kind of degenerate free jazz. Side B or Master Pong made later explores more musical forms, with influences of the krautrock and electronic disco matrix, and sees the collaboration with other musicians from Bologna's historic rock scene such as Gianluca Patini (Surprize, Slava Trudu, Volkwerk Folletto) on guitars, Giorgio Lavagna on vocals (Gaznevada, Stupid Set) and Enrico Serotti on electronic samples (Confusional Quartet, Stupid Set).
The album is a limited edition of 270 copies (+ 30 in deluxe format, with an extra-spacious cloth cover, brass ping pong players' medals and various numbered and signed inserts) to be released in October 2023.

Ping Pong

[RWCLTR024] Ping Pong - Ping Pong [300 Limited Vinyl Edition]

Essaira releases her first drops through this limited series of 50 clear vinyls, with silkscreened and numbered covers and inserts, available exclusively via Bandcamp and in a few select shops. It is just a taste of its sonic dimension. Started in a living room in 2023, a series of tracks were churned out exclusively out of hunger. The darker sides were exposed, like wounds under the sun, their colour turning to rust.
Warm sounds blend with raw electronic rhythms, vocals overlap with taut synthesisers, pierced by sharp guitars, while industrial rhythms mark the darkness and power of this time. Pay attention.

Dramla is a lament from the belly, an existential annoyance that stems from an awareness of how a capitalist society inevitably pilots some of our daily choices. Facing the stares of those who do not understand but still place production expectations on us. The only thing worth investing in is feeding the strays.

Xirxe is a hymn to weirdness, to the monstrous feminine. An overturning of the vision of the woman-victim that comes to us from Greek mythology, in which courage to distance oneself from toxicity is interpreted as escape, weakness. In which defiance of patriarchal Olympian rules is seen as an act of vicious disobedience and not as vindication of one's own choices. Xirxe takes a voice, recounts her choices, her courage and her vulnerability. Through self-awareness, she moves her choices and shapes her surroundings, dancing around obstacles, defining limits to be defended at all costs if violated Every body, in order to be crossed, needs consent.
