REOSC - Presented Ep

Distrackt Records continue their 2024 schedule by welcoming the fast-rising REOSC to the DR family with his Presented EP.

REOSC has been a tour de force on the Irish electronic music scene with releases on Soiree Records, Bang Le Dex & Sonar Bliss. As part of the 3M Collective – Music Machine Masters, REOSC has been a champion of new DJ’s & Producers, offering them a space and opportunity to showcase their skills and sounds.

REOSC DR debut delivers four original techno cuts and 2 remixes from DR legends The Dirtbirdz and fellow 3M curator KERZ.

A1. The Wolf:
Dark and dubby from the get-go The Wolf moves along at a fast pace. Choppy vocals, drones creating tension, slamming drums and driving hats do the work on the Wolf.

A2. Planetary Assault:
Layered percs ride over an aggressive kick drum, ethereal synths create a hook that delivers rhythm and groove.

A3. Presented:
Poly-rhythmic drums and driving sub bass move Presented along, an array of hats and claps create a synchronous groove. Bleeping synths and stabs add tone and texture.

B1. Result:
Heavy kick drum, swinging hats and percs, hypnotic toms & congas lay the foundation of Result. A synth hook provides the groove.

B2. Planetary Assault (The Dirtbirdz remix):
The Dirtbirdz rework Planetary Assault taking a deeper route, driving the bassline, splashes of rim shots, stabs and synths are glued together with hats and percs.

B3. The Wolf (KERZ remix):
KERZ cleans The Wolf up and adds the polish. Reworked bassline, vocals and kick take the Wolf in a new direction.

Distrackt Records welcome Dockson back to the DR with his Prism EP.

Debuting on the Irish label with 2023’s well received Mist Runner EP, the Louth man returns with Prism, five fast paced groove driven delicious slices of original Techno.

1. Verity:
Atmospheric drones, pads and chopped vox set the tone, swinging percussion add the groove, rumbling bassline and looped stab synths provided the depth.

2. Uzumaki:
Perc hits cut and echo through the layered tones and textures created by electro synths and deep bass.

3. Uchiha:
A synth line moves and evolves throughout, expanding and contracting creating tension on top of a solid deep bassline topped with raw swinging percussion.

4. Groovy Cycle:
Raw and deep percussion with hypnotic hooks, loops and breathy vocals.

5. Donny:
Jackin vibes with rough cut deep synth stabs, claps and hats adding the groove and swing.

Dockson - Prism Ep - Out Now

Dublin’s finest purveyors of underground techno – The DirtBirdz return to the DR with their monster eight track EP – Jawbreakerz. Consisting of five originals and three remixes, Jawbreakerz is a variable tour de force across the techno spectrum.

The DirtBirdz are joined on by Dublin native JCIE and DR head honchos Brotherhood of the Wolf delivering two remixes. 

A1. 909 Jawbreaker:
Swinging percs and polyrhythmic drums lay over a driving kick drum. Bleep synths and a deep stab play off each other creating tone and texture creating tension in the breakdown that’s released back into a driving sidewinding missile of techno.

A2. FR8 Train:
A deep bassline, aggressive hats and drums lay down the tracks on FR8 Train, an evolving sustained lead synth drives the Train twisting and turning all the way to the peak.

B1. Bass BangEr:
Jackin drums and synths are the order of the day for Bass BangEr. Swinging percussion and funked up bassline move Bass BangEr along and at solid steady pace.

B2. Uncle Charly:
Distorted kick drum and stabbing synths set the tone early for Uncle Charly. Hats and percs add some movement and flavour to this nod to the hazy days of rave culture.

C1. XTC:
XTC takes Jawbreakerz to a deeper level. The focus shifts to highlighting the groove and low end with a distinct acid lead moving throughout.

C2. Bass BangEr (Brotherhood of the Wolf Remix):
Distrackt label heads rework Bass BangEr moving in a more industrial direction. Pushing the bass to the fore with pads and drones wrapping around to create a deeper pulsing monster.

D1. Bass BangEr (Brotherhood of the Wolf Dub):
Brotherhood of the Wolf’s second effort sees them employ a more hypnotic focus. Deep stabs take the lead riding over polyrhythmic percs and drum rolls.

D2. XTC (JCIE Remix):
JCIE releases the tension of Jawbreakerz with his stripped back remix of XTC. Slowing the tempo and creating spaces that are filled with clean synths and moving percussion, delivering a dreamy reimaging of the original.

Respected Irish techno label Distrackt Records continues its ethos of introducing new talent as they drop their first release of 2024, welcoming Dublin’s RHO1 to the DR family with his debut EP titled Deviate.

A fast-rising talent on the Irish scene RHO1’s Deviate EP delivers three original tracks plus remixes from DR regulars The DirtBirdz with label heads Brotherhood of the Wolf delivering two remixes including one under their Jeff’s Obsession moniker.

A1. Back on the Swing:
Atmospheric vocals ride a heavy kick as melodies and stabs roll, synths evolve and brighten as Back on the Swing maintains its pace throughout. 
 

A2. Not Phased:
Building synths set the tone, rumbling sub-bass creates the platform for swinging percussion and chopped vox that keep Not Phased firmly planted on the dancefloor.
 
A3. The Manoeuvre:
Rolling infectious vocals and rave style synths set the pace as The Manoeuvre nods towards Hardgroove with swinging hats and percussion moving from start-to-finish. 
 
B1. Back on the Swing (Brotherhood of the Wolf Remix):
Brotherhood of the Wolf rework the vocal and melody adding layers of synths over an aggressive sub-bass. Deep synth stabs and polyrhythmic percussion add texture and tone. 
 
B2. Not Phased (The DirtBirdz Remix):
The DirtBirdz complete rearrangement pushes a hard driving low end, hypnotic vocals and big building synths.
 
B3. The Manoeuvre (Jeff’s Obsession Re-Edit):
Jeff’s Obsession Re-Edit brings the original on a different journey, slowed down and funked up. Reworked bassline, vocals and added swing.

Irish techno producer Simon Foran has got some pedigree, honing his production skills under the tutelage of Will Kinsella (Hybrasil), the Dubliner has gone from strength to strength since dropping his debut EP: “Nexus” on Dream Mode in November 2014.  

Not one to rest on his laurels, Foran is constantly in the studio pushing his boundaries with a distinct ear for detail. He has been moulding his dark melodic sound, a sound he showcased on his recent Nihilus EP, released September 2017 on Distrackt Records. 

Volume 1 finds Foran effortlessly flowing through a 60min dj set, the sound is diverse, interesting, and flawlessly tight, showcasing another string to his bow, that he can curate the soundtrack of the dance floor as well as provide the ammunition.
