It was Friday Night, during the middle of my set at DISTRIKT, that the strongest sand storm of the year joins our party. An end-of-the-world scenery takes place on the dance floor, something straight out of a movie. As if a war was taking place. Dancing warriors sticked in embracing the heavy winds as some sort of ritual. My music gets deeper and deeper. The moment turned out epic… so we wanted to share with you a piece of it. Thanks Ben Seagren, Kramer & friends… It’s an honor to bring my sounds to my family at DISTRIKT.

I feel like I can truly be my funky, freaky self at DISTRIKT. The camp and the crowd are so incredibly positive, encouraging and supportive. During this set I remember feeling that energy with every drop, with every mix. That kind of vibe is infectious and allows you to take risks, to push things. m.O.N.R.O.E. - DISTRIKT Sound - Burning Man 2022

My experience started by getting completely lost in a crazy white out on the Playa solo. I lost & ditched my homies in a singular effort to make my set on time on my bike lol. I ended up being 30 minutes late to my set and also played on CDJs first time in 10 years or so (or whatever long time  - I’m usually a Traktor guy).

It was one of those magical moments with the elements (extreme heat and playa dust) dictating the direction of the day. I was thirsty AF on top of being late AF. But the DISTRIKT crew had my back upon arrival with smoothies, water and drinks and made me feel at home immediately, and it turned out to be one of my most memorable and cherished experiences. Can’t wait to come back for more fun in the dust!

Sharam - DISTRIKT Sound - Burning Man 2022

DISTRIKT is one of the camps who welcomed us very early on. What we like most about it is that it feels like a real nightclub in the most surreal environment. Kramer, Ben and the whole D-crew are the most welcoming and incredible hosts you can imagine. They put so much blood, sweat & tears in this project. 

And what we love that you have to prepare very differently. You have to find the jams which have a great energy and still the vibes. As it’s daytime and such a big space it’s pure bliss to unite all the different kind of humans, species, stray cats & enthusiasts. The little extras like the green room are a prove of their never ending love for details. We are beyond thankful to be a part of their journey for so many years now and hopefully we are still celebrating this camp another 40 years!

If you ask anyone on the playa about DISTRIKT, they immediately smile and say, best day party on the playa! I am proud to be with a kamp of snarky folks who work hard to deliver a full bar 6 days a week and with a music line up that is always on point. I was on the build knew this year and now know a bit more of what it takes to get everything dialed in. A lot of blood, sweat, and middle fingers get this all done. There isn’t room for sensitive Sally’s and that’s why I fit in. I am most grateful for my involvement with DISTRIKT and this year I got to play on my Burnthday, Saturday, September 1st with so many of my awesome friends there with me. The crowd was gathering for my good friend, colleague, and badass DJ Ben Annand and I was ecstatic to follow his flow. It’s been a while since I played DISTRIKT last. After this years experience I’m somewhat kicking myself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crowd at Burning Man so wild and fun. The party was electric. Fire! And, it was only Tuesday. ‘Pacing it’ was obviously out of the question for the five thousand or so that joined me. The Robot Heart bus rolled up and plugged in. Hoj tore the place up before me. Our day party extended into night and most of us left with a smile on our faces and an electricity that carried us forward. Beautiful people swung above the crowd in a birdcage (is that safe I kept asking myself in my head)and hips wiggled and swung while the multi-level dance floor bumped and bounced. Basically, best day party at Burning Man ever ever. So, thank you DISTRIKT for giving me an extended set and an amazing party to play. Let’s do it again next year. It’s a date?

Our mission is to support an inclusive and diverse community of performers and artists through events, partnerships, local community involvement and friendship. Originally founded at Burning Man in 2010 and based on Burning Man’s Ten Principles, DISTRIKT has evolved into globally recognized and respected organization and we are celebrating our 10th anniversary in 2019. 

While DISTRIKT is known for dance music events, we are an ever-evolving organization and it is important for us to have a strong connection to the community that we celebrate. DISTRIKT regularly partners with other community organizations and over the past decade has donated thousands of dollars of event proceeds to other with local and national non-profit organizations. Beginning in Q4 2019, DISTRIKT will be launching a new quarterly volunteer effort focused on helping the community, the country and the planet.

I feel like every year I say my closing set at DISTRIKT is the highlight of my year of touring (because well, it always is) and this year was no different! Always the best energy, the biggest smiles, the happiest dance floor on earth...only this year, I got to play that set twice! Since there was an issue with the original recording, I had the opportunity to play that set in its entirety (plus an extra two hours at the end) by recording it live on my Garage Party Sessions show on Saturday March 28, 2020. I hope those of you who tuned in the past weekend were able to get way from our current global situation for a few hours and get back to happier days on the playa, I know I sure did, so thank you for being there with me again.

The first 3 hours of this set are the same songs in the same order as my set at Burning Man 2019. I decided to leave the last 2 hours on there as a little bonus, just to help you get through these long days stuck at home. I also recorded a 45 minute downtempo intro, which will be featured on my personal Soundcloud page.
