Podcast 005 is a very special one indeed. One of Distrikt's founding fathers and local legend, Stuart Forsyth aka Foz steps up for a massive mix. Foz was an integral part when Distrikt birthed 10 years ago and paved a solid foundation to what we have reached today. Now 10 years on he is the man behind the infamous MiNT club, warehouse & festival as well as an everything to do with Cocoon In The Park & Temple Newsham Festival while also selling out venues with his own Dirty Disco party which has been running for over 15 years in the city. This 2 hour mix dives deep into his record back for an all vinyl affair full of energy, twists and turns between styles of house, pulsating through and keeping you locked to the groove.

Distrikt Podcast 005: Foz (Dirty Disco, Mint)

Stepping in for our 6th Distirkt podcast we welcome @terence-terry
head honcho of @lvrose (La Vie En Rose) & @user-696855184 (Epice Magique Rec). Recently also setting up his own agency Presence Booking to help push forward a new wave of artists such as Stephan Bazbaz, Mari.te ,Jonny N’Travis ,Vincent Giumelli ,Robert Plankett ,Fabien Geniero.

As a teenager Terence :Terry: spent much of his time hanging out in the first raves to be held in Paris, in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. There, he discovered a menagerie of dance genres and he quickly developed a passion for diverse sounds that would inspire him to take to the decks, and influence him throughout the rest of his music career. Feeding his desire for original, rare cuts, Terence became a fixture at Paris’ famous flea-market Puces of Clignancourt, dealing in second-hand warehouse vinyl he found on trips to London. But, always on the hunt something new to excite him, he would often sneak away from his shop in search of jazz, soul, hip-hop and funk records to expand his ever-growing music collection.

Steadily building his name as a DJ/producer on the underground scene in Paris, Terence secured a number of residencies including ‘Afterparty Is Not A Crime’ at Nouveau Casino, one of the most hyped after parties around in 2003/4, and later in 2009, ‘Oui Now’ at Djoon where he hosted alongside the likes of Tania Vulcano, Seth Troxler and Clive Henry. His close alliance with the famous Freak n’Chic label saw him spinning at the Batofar and Rex Club whilst, further afield, his DJing took him from DC10 Ibiza, to Panoramabar and Watergate in Berlin, Goa Madrid and Fabric London.

Branching out and wanting to immerse himself in a new scene, Terence moved away from Paris for a few wild years in London, where he was embraced by the city’s underground and regularly appeared at seminal parties such as T-bar, Kubicle and Mulletover. This was not only a crucial time for Terence himself but also for the London scene, giving rise to a new generation of artists who have helped shape the progression of the city’s electronic music scene since the mid-2000s up to now. Being involved in such a fertile movement had a huge influence on Terence’s outlook, inspiring him to return to Paris with a fresh new take on his career.

In 2012, Terence felt it was time to launch his own label La Vie En Rose, quite simply to have a platform to develop and release a sound that could encompass a whole range of genres, taking influence from his very first experiences in the Paris rave scene. Since its inception La Vie En Rose has been responsible for several ubiquitous releases, including the killer ‘Living Lies’ by John Dimas, ‘Distraction Way’ by Terence and Hanfry Martinez (which included Dyed Soundorom’s exquisite remix of ‘Sunday Gathering’), Carlos Sanchez with ‘Timeless’ (including New York legend Jovonn on remix duties) and Terence and Hanfry’s second superlative link up, ‘Cornelius Is Gaye’. The label continues to maintain a high level of musical output, representing the very best in avant-garde sounds from a selection of young talents from around Europe.

Stepping in for our 7th Podcast we welcome Slapfunk newest recruit William Caycedo into the mix for a dazzling eclectic take on his usual output. 

Music has always been around William starting out b-boying at a young age in the Netherlands. He learned to dj from Mistasweet, an old-school hip-hop/battle DJ from The Hague. He Started raving at 17 and fell in love with house music and the underground scene. His productions influenced by hip-hop -> always looking for a raw feel. Amsterdam was his home base for years and where he started getting notoriety releasing on labels slapfunk, adult only, girasole and brawthers & Tristan Da Cuntha Dungeon meat, combined and with an international touring schedule.

We originally had will down to play at Distrikt this summer till lockdown came into place, so this mix gets us very excited for clubs to return and to be having William Caycedo into the mix in our booth

Distrikt Podcast 007: William Caycedo (Slapfunk)

For our 8th Podcast we welcome @timothyclerkin to the podcast series.

Timothy Clerkin is an Amsterdam based producer, live act & DJ, who has been releasing records, playing live & DJ’ing all over the world since 2010.

After spending a number of years cutting his teeth as one half of international DJ duo the Eskimo Twins, he has been releasing music under various solo names for a number of years now.

With a string of rabidly received EP’s with his birth moniker under his belt, he is now touring his electric & ambitious live show, which has been described as a filthy, extensive journey through clubbing.

2018 saw him launch his own label ‘Insult To Injury’ which, after only a handful of releases, has already been heavily supported by the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Optimo, Vladimir Ivkovic, Ivan Smagghe, Erol Alkan, Lena Willikens & Lovefingers.

This is a pure club mix from the artists stacked full of plenty of dance floor smashers plusing through a eclectic mix of electronic gold, through ambient electro, techno, breakbeat and chock full of acid. Rave on.

Distrikt Podcast 008: Timothy Clerkin

Our partnership with Distrikt Paris runs deep so it was more than right to get them involved in our Mix series. Resident Blanco Comes in with a hot hour of grooves, bouncing house to techno, through breakbeat and electro, Blanco likes to wander between styles, keeping that groove that defines him.

Blanco belongs to this new French scene, passionate, studious and eager to share his eclectic vision of electronic music. In 2015, he first began to evolve as a resident of the Insomnia Rec. collective in Paris. He was then spotted by the Distrikt Paris collective, well known for its underground parties, which he joined in 2016 and now evolves as a resident for this crew, chaining gigs through the biggest clubs and warehouses in the city. One of his main characteristics is the attention he pays to his selection, always fine and varied, allowing him to adapt to any club or situation.

Distrikt Podcast 009: Blanco (Distrikt Paris)

In 10 years Distrikt has become one of the rising stars of the underground scene and a institution for electronic music, bringing some of the best international artists to play on free entry shows and creating some unbelievably memorable nights that cross genres and boundary.  

Previous guests include legends such as Moodyman, Kenny Dope, Juan Atkins, Dan Ghenacia, Sonja Moonear, Optimo and DJ Tennis, to local talent and rising stars, including residents and parties from the likes of Albion, Mugpie, Limit, Joy Techno Sessions, Dirty Disco & More.
