A debut album is always something special. For Julian Wassermann, "Apple Of My Eye" is the essence of his musical identity – a sonic journey that has grown and evolved over the past 15 years.
For many years, Julian has been a constant presence in Germany’s electronic music scene. With countless releases on renowned labels, he has established himself as a respected name in the industry. All the more surprising, then, that the Munich-born producer had never released a full-length album until now.
Recently, Julian Wassermann joined Fckng Serious as an exclusive artist. Here, he not only found new energy for his live performances but also the creative freedom to craft his first album entirely on his own terms.
Within a year, 15 tracks came to life – each one a reflection of Julian’s musical versatility. Every production is deeply personal: from the very first sound to the final master, Julian shaped every detail himself. Adding even more intimacy, he wove in live recordings and sound fragments taken from his everyday life – moments in nature, time with friends and family, and personal experiences. Some of these friends, themselves musicians, also contributed to select tracks, bringing unique nuances and fresh layers to the album.
For Julian Wassermann, his greatest achievement has always been staying true to himself – and this album is no exception. With "Apple Of My Eye", he showcases not only his technical mastery in the studio but also his remarkable versatility: from driving techno to melodic house, from electronica with breakbeat influences to atmospheric ambient sounds, Julian unites all the styles that have shaped him throughout his career.
The album will be released in October 2025, preceded by several singles.

INTERVIEW

1. Why did you choose to become an artist?
"I spent many years attending music festivals and shows around my hometown of Los Angeles, CA. I was pursuing acting at the time and it just wasnʼt fulfilling me on a personal level. I found out about this music school specifically for music production not too far away from where I lived and decided to quit acting immediately, focus 100% on music production, and Iʼve never looked back since."

2. What do you do to get into a creative state?
"Salt lamp lights, light meditation, and turning off my phone."

3. Where do you get your inspiration from?
"I like to refer to my music as “intergalactic underground sounds,” although lately itʼs leaned a bit towards “intergalactic war music” ha! I have the utmost fascination with deep space and space exploration. The possibilities of what lies “out there” really get my mind going. Each track I make is a mini soundtrack to interstellar travel in a sense. But thatʼs not all. This “space travel” music I make is also representative of the deep inner space one can travel inside of yourself through meditation. I truly think that as vast and mysterious outer space is, your inner space is just as vast and mysterious."

4. What, for you, is the purpose of art?
"Expressing what words cannot express. Expressing the inexpressible."

5. What do you want to express with your music?
"I hope that my music makes people think outside of the box. What I make is definitely not some booty shaking, cookie cutter type of stuff. It has substance, a lot of feeling, perhaps wonderment behind it. At least I hope thatʼs what my audience can feel when they listen to my music.

6. What do you love most about being an artist?
"Connecting with fans around the world. I was that fan in the crowd for so long. Itʼs such a joy seeing my music make people as happy as I would always be when I was attending shows every weekend."

7. What makes you laugh?
"My two dogs, Ozzy and Scarlett."

8. You in 11 years?
"Touring the world with my future family, throwing my conceptual party in different countries, and a residency in Ibiza."

The SunSet Cacao Dance @ Eagle's Nest Atitlán is an ecstatic dance inspired community event guided by Mose on the shores of the majestic Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.

This is a live set filmed in December, 2019. The journey starts just before sunset with a simple cacao ceremony to set intentions and drop deeper into presence and inner silence. Cacao helps to open the heart and provides energy in the form of theobromine, literally meaning "food of the Gods". In honor of worldwide Ecstatic Dance guidelines, the group is led into a space of silence through the rest of the event with the intention to deepen the experience and allow each individual to connect more deeply inside while honing the ability to connect with others through eye contact and movement. The participants are asked to refrain from consuming any other substances and no alcohol is served with the intention to tap into deep states of consciousness without the need of hard drugs and the inebriation of alcohol. 

The music starts slowly to invite people into their bodies as they feel inspired, while allowing others to stay seated in meditation or contemplation. The music slowly builds through the experience and peaks with full ecstatic movement. The wave then washes over with a slower more spacious energy to drop deeper into spaciousness and introspection until finally ending lying on the ground with soft ambient music to hold the space for integration and grounding. 

There are many of us now all around the world who can attest to the depth of experience available to us on a dance floor surrounded by beautiful, free spirited, open hearted people. Combine that with the magic of cacao and breathtaking scenery and you have a recipe for magic.

*The normal guidelines include the prohibition of cameras and cell phones in the dance space to nurture a space of freedom and to let go of our need to document and share all of our experiences. For this particular event we made an exception in hopes to give a glimpse into this expansive world. 

About the Space:
Set near the shores of renowned Lake Atitlán (Guatemala), Eagle’s Nest is a distinguished intentional hosting space for events, retreats, residencies, community hosting, workshops & summits.  With a focus on movement arts (yoga, aerials, acrobatics, circus, dance) to foster well-being, guests are invited to explore, experiment and soar beyond!  Groups of up to 24 can be hosted on-site for retreats, whilst up to 200 participants for events.

Especially dance music allows us to unify with the flow of the music. When we express the energy it releases within us, by just giving ourselves to it and following the spontaneous and authentic movements of our bodies, we can experience a state of connection, peace and joy. Doing this collectively, synchronously moving to the same rhythm and sharing this special experience, we feel a connection that resonates within.

With DIT KLINGT JUT we want to express our love for music and manifest the meaning it can have for all of us. We do this by providing a thoughtfully curated space for artists and labels to share their music, organizing events & live-streams and serving as a platform to share ideas on music and the creative process.
