MINI-INTERVIEW

How did you get into DJing?
Everything started when I was like 10 years old and we had some soccer tournaments in the sports-hall in my little village where I raised. They needed someone who plays the music when a goal happens or the last minute begins. So, I had my pen drive always ready and prepared with a folder structure and stuff like that. Later then, when we did some parties, I always brought some self-compiled CD’s, so that we had some good music in a nice order. All in all, I always collected and sorted music, so it just felt natural to step behind the decks. 

What do you want to express with your music?
Always depends on the mood. Since I’m playing many genres, I think it’s important to read the crowd and the ambience to play the right music. But I want it to get emotions out of the people, if its pure ecstasy or get people crying. 

Sync on or off?
I’m an engineer (soon probably ;P), so I always like and use every technological help or innovation. There are moments of fast mixing or where you bring in a song within a break without kicks or beats. So you can not really beatmatch. Those are moments, where sync is useful and makes it better. But beatmatching is a crucial skill as DJ.

Die nüchterne Schönheit dieser Landschaften beeindruckt mich jedes Mal wieder aufs neue. Sanfte Auen schmiegen sich wie selbstverständlich an stumme und urzeitlich anmutende, aus den Nebelschwaden hervorragende Wälder. Während ich meinen Körper aufgrund des unebenen Geländes kaum auf dem Kutschbock halten kann, verliert sich mein Geist in der wundersamen Pracht der reinen Natur. 
Auf meinen Reisen durch die deutschen Lande verbringe ich viel Zeit allein, respektive mit meinem treuen Ross Ferdinand und mir selbst. Für viele meiner Mitmenschen wäre so ein Leben als fahrender Händler schlicht unvorstellbar. Doch irgendjemand muss ja Waren, jeglicher Beschaffenheit und Art, von A nach B bringen.
Meine lebhafte Phantasie ist ein Segen für meinen Beruf. Oft stelle ich mir vor, wie Zwerge und Kobolde durchs Gras huschen, bilde mir ein, ein Einhorn am Waldesrand zu erspähen und rieche den Geruch von Eintopf, den Hexen in ihren kargen Hütten zusammen brauen.
Ich drifte gedanklich ab und lasse mich durch meine sprudelnde Vorstellungskraft erquicken. Urplötzlich und hart wie ein kräftiger und gut gezielter Faustschlag ins Gesicht, werde ich zurück in die Realität geworfen. 
Ferdinand kommt abrupt zum stehen. Fast entgleiten mir die Zügel, im letzten Moment fange ich mich und mein Gleichgewicht. Etwas benommen sehe ich mich um. Weit und breit ist keine Menschenseele zu sehen. Aufmerksam mustere ich mein Pferd. Es hat die Ohren angelegt und dreht den Kopf, als würde es angestrengt einem Geräusch aus der Ferne lauschen ... 
Nun höre ich es auch, doch die Stimmen sind noch so weit entfernt und so leise wie ein flüstern aus einer anderen, einer mir fremden Dimension. Einige Minuten verharren Ferdinand und ich in unseren Positionen. Dann bin ich mir sicher und kann den Singsang endgültig identifizieren ...
"Wohl an, dem der da geht, der da steht oder sitzt hoch zu Pferd. In der Rechten die Lanze in der Scheide sein Schwert. Auf der Jagd die Staufer nun zu brechen, anschließend mit den Wölfen zu zechen ..."
Eine Trupp Welfen marschiert also genau in unsere Richtung. Damit befinden sich meine geladene Fracht und mein Leben in höchster Gefahr.

Gefangen Intrance. Der Name ist sowohl Programm als auch Anspruch. Um genau diesem gerecht zu werden, sind die im Set verwobenen Tracks melodisch-episch. Die Vielschichtigkeit der Vocals verzaubert das gesamte Werk, zu einem orchestral verpacktem, elektronischen Hörvergnügen und möchte auch von Dir konsumiert werden.

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life?🗯🗯

Corona changed everything. Feels more and more like a reset button, but I like the energy that I feel right now about doing new things with old friends and dj friends but also with new ones. In the lockdown we all had more time than usual to sort out things and these results of new ideas, projects, people unions etc will now arise. That's gonna be - and already is - very exciting.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

At home. My little home studio got my most appreciated place in the last months. I felt happy since I just came back from a very little official festival and put all the memories and energy in the mix.

🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

That we all stay positive and put our effort in the creation of new concepts - I’m sure we will find more and more ways to constantly improve the possible balance between important safety issues and the feeling of being totally alive (again).

Peter & Moritz, who together form Thys & Taylor, have been DJing together for six years. Peter is from Belgium and lives in Frankfurt am Main since 2019, but first moved to Marburg in 2011. There he met Moritz, who in turn has lived in Marburg since he was born. When those two got to know each other and discovered their common passion for music, Moritz already was part of the collective ‘Marbylon’. Marbylon at that time was well known for its club parties and illegal raves in nearby forests that Peter & Moritz helped to organize.
 
When the two started playing together six years ago, Peter’s first idea was to play Drum ‘n‘ Bass. But it quickly showed that Peter & Moritz were based in Techno. Nowadays, their sound moves between House, Deep House, Tech House and Melodic Techno. Basically everything that counts as Techno and sounds great to them is included in their Dj sets.
 
In addition to Thys & Taylor, the two also manage the podcast site ‘Tonspuren’ (German for ‘soundtrack’). On this Soundcloud website they present DJ sets of befriended artists from their musical network. In 2016 they took part in a DJ contest of ‘Jeden Tag ein Set’ and scored first place. They were rewarded with a gig on the main stage of the ‘Burning Beach Festival’ in Nuremberg( Germany). One year later, in 2017, they won the contest of the ‘Panama Open Air’ festival in Bonn (Germany), where they were also allowed to play on stage. According to them, they had their best gig at the ‘Aftrsun Festival’ in Belgium. The time spent in clubs and on festivals to them simply is a time to rebalance among friends and culture.

With DIT KLINGT JUT we want to express our love for music and manifest the meaning it can have for all of us. We do this by providing a thoughtfully curated space for artists and labels to share their music, organizing events & live-streams and serving as a platform to share ideas on music and the creative process.
