September 6, 1987. In a small town somewhere in northern New Jersey. Diva Monroe was born Dana Marie Duarte. As a child, she became very self-aware very quickly and was often misunderstood for her bisexuality and troubled life at home. Much like her desire to model and act, Dana's passion for music began at an early age when a local DJ at a family party gave to her the first Madonna CD that she would ever own. Little did he know that this selfless act would later lead to the birth of her own career in music. Dana immediately began following Madonna's career and studying her work. Idolizing the queen of pop, she vowed to follow in her footsteps and one day leave her in the dust. Her dream was to be more elaborate, more theatrical, more sexual, sensual and controversial than Madonna ever was. Her dream was to one day become.... Diva Monroe. Naturally defiant, determined and driven by her dreams, Diva has always been true to herself in spite of what society has had in store. Because of her dedication to the ways in which she chooses to express herself and her unwillingness to comply with social norms, her art has often been stifled throughout her life. Banned from multiple high school performances and talent shows, Diva was judged harshly by parents, teachers and the people who cared for her. None the less, she remained focused on her dreams and never once doubted who she was. On the streets at age 18 and left to fend for herself, she was sometimes forced to trust people that would lead her down some twisted paths and attempt to hold her back. Strong minded and often underestimated, her quick thinking kept her out of some sticky situations, while some she could not avoid. Juggling drama from every angle of every aspect in her life, Diva always found her way to the Karaoke bar where she would sharpen her skills and prepare for the day that she would make her mark. After some bad experiences, bad relationships and broken promises, she finally met her first manager, producer and business partner who would help her to lay the ground work for the Diva Monroe Empire and the independent record label "Diva Music." Since then, she has been religiously working in her home studio while learning the ins and outs of the industry and looking for the support of a major label. To pay homage to her idol, Diva Monroe's first promotional release "Diva Does Madonna" is a compilation of classic songs which demonstrate her vocal range and talent. The disc also includes several featured tracks which showcase the singer's comical sense of humor and "Dis caring, not giving a shit attitude." Recently, Diva Monroe released her first original single, "Sexual Phantasy," an explicit look at her sexuality and a delightful romp through her dirty mind. The track is also the artist's first rap song and first collaboration with several musicians who will be contributing to her first album which will be available soon.
