1989 Mix Summer of love Part 1 (Mixed by Carlos francisco)

A select mix of the tunes that were staple dance floor fodder for the residents of the Club Wobble in Birmingham UK. The songs in this mix were selected from a much larger list (available on the Facebook Group for Wobble) recently put together by some of the Wobble Residents themselves, from what they recall as being the songs that were regularly played and made the club what it was. Welcome to this very special Word Is Love show where we celebrate some of the finest Dance music that played on the Hacienda Dancefloor in Manchester, U.K. throughout the late 80's and into the 90's.
 
There's music by Todd Terry, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Graeme Park, K-Klass, Inner City, A Guy Called Gerald and Derrick May plus many more absolute bangers you may recognise; it's a show full of instantly recognisable 80's and 90's House and Garage classics.

This first part of the Word Is Love show special covers the most well known classic tracks that defined a Generation and concentrates on the hugely popular 'Nude' nights done by Mike Pickering and Graeme Park on Friday nights throughout the late 80's and early 90's.

Back to Love (Athenaeum, Hacienda & Home Nightclub Classics)(Part 1 - The Athenauem 1993/1994) - Mixed by Mark Anthony (December 2020)

Finishing the year 2020 with a selection of my personal favorites from back in the day. For me 1993 & 1994 were 2 of the best years musically with so many of the tracks now seen as classics.

If you lived in Manchester you probably use to start your weekend at the 'Atheneaum' which was easily the best pre-clubbing venue ever. The resident DJ's there were Planet Janet (aka Guy Williams & partner) and if I remember correctly Allister Whitehead was also a regular guest. Week after week these guys provided musical entertainment that was just beyond perfection. It was just a shame it had to close at 11 pm due to the licensing laws back then. 

I had the privilege of DJ'ing there about 5 times between 1994 and 1995 and the place holds many special memories. This mix features some of the tracks that ended up being my personal favorites from 'The Athenaeum'. Every track has a place in my heart and brings back fond memories of those special moments in time. The were however so many tracks that I love from back then that I couldn't fit them all in to one mix so Part 2 coming soon!
