Wieder ein Mix aus der Reihe „Wollte ich schon immer mal machen“. Meine Jugend in der sächsischen Pampa begann früh mit Partys. Gab es keine, machte man eine. So lernte ich auch die Leute vom Nachtdigital Festival 1997 kennen. Wir waren uns gleich sympathisch und so folgte 1998 das erste Nachtdigital, eine nächtliche Open-Air-Party und weit weg von dem, was es heute ist. Mit wenig Professionalität, aber viel Leidenschaft wuchs das Event jedes Jahr ein Stück und mit jedem Jahr wurde man ein Stück besser. Viele neue, damals noch unbekanntere Künstler, teilten sich mit renommierten Künstlern die Bühne am Waldsee. Dazwischen: Ich. Einerseits als DJ (Spud Murphy), aber auch als Live-Act (Latex Distortion). In den 12 Jahren zwischen 1998 und 2010 hat mich Nachtdigital geprägt. Danach kamen familiäre und berufliche Verpflichtungen, die immer mehr Zeit in Anspruch nahmen und ich mich auf Raten von der aktiven Nachti-Seite entfernte. Aber ich nahm sie mit: die Musik, die Erinnerungen, die Momente. Jedes dieser Lieder verbinde ich mit Nachtdigital. Es könnten mindestens doppelt so viele sein und vielleicht mache ich auch noch so einen Mix, aber fürs Erste sollen 42 genügen. 42 ist ja auch eine wichtige Zahl. ;)

This was the first 45 minutes of a 90 minute set.  I was assaulted by a Newark Undercover Cop 
from behind without warning.  This individual was trying to turn off the sound system off and I pushed him back and we go about 5 feet backwards into a wall.  Never once did this officer say a word and never produced a badge.  His actions put everyone in danger including his own team when organizers tried to pull us away from each other.  The music didn't stop until another uniformed officer flipped the table over.  Just seconds before this hundreds of party goers were enjoying the night and not one person posed any threat to anyone, peace & love & having fun.

At this point a full on riot broke out with uniformed police officers punching & kicking several people, using excessive force and handcuffing people.  A close friend and associate of mine named Alex wound up getting charged with Assualt On A Police Officer.  For just coming into separate myself and the initial cop who attacked me.  This officer needs to be held accountable.

Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music.
