As always we introduce the person behind the music with three questions, in this case @Tannenberg

1) What is your favorite book to read? 
Tortilla Curtain by TC Boyle. Not only because it carries the favourite food of my ancestors from Central America in the title but also describes the issues immigrants are facing coming into an industrialized, over-organised and materially wealthy society. Also a reflection of my own personal story.

2)  If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have? Magic hugs which turn haters into lovers, war lords into cuddle machines and jealous folks into caring & supporting persons. 

3) What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)?  Some 60 hours on one of the first super enthusiastic weekends dancing in Berlin - right from work on Friday to the bars and then 1 full 24h at Sisyphos. Was just so happy to be alive at that time in that place. Just couldn’t stop dancing with a big smile on my face.

tANNENBERG - Selvas De Nieve

Matthias aka M.Age.Project first met Dr. Christian Rätsch, the well-known ethnologist and shamanism expert from Hamburg, who has researched shamanic cultures and their ethnopharmacological, ethnomedicinal and ritual use of plants and mushrooms all over the world, at some seminars, from which a friendly contact developed. 

When they made the Mayan language recordings for this track in a private meeting during the pandemic in the summer of 2020, no one
could have guessed that this bundled wisdom from the remote jungle world of the Lacandon people in southern Mexico, among whom Christian lived for three years, would so soon become a legacy.

Christian gave us these three essential phrases in Lakandon Maya:

• ki' ile tu' kabin – Carefully watch where you are going.
• ki' ibah awilik tech – Carefully observe the things you see.
• ki' känan ta bäh – Carefully protect yourself.

Matthias derived all the core elements of his organic bouncy slow psy track from the rhythmic structure of the first phrase and, by transferring the voice recording via Formant Motion function into his Korg Radias synthesizer, he created a unique mysterious sound trip.
With their signature remixes, Andreas Balicki, AmuAmu, Pay Kusten and Ex-Mono explore further sonic realms in the vast depths between nature and sound synthesis.

Christian Rätsch passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2022, as a result of a stomach ulcer.With the utmost respect, we thank him for his extraordinary work and his kind collaboration with us.

Likewise, we would like to thank Christian's Lakandon friends and teachers who shared their invaluable knowledge of the jungle with him so that it may be preserved for the world.

In the spirit of Christian's motto "Love life!" we now want to carry on the "essence" with our music together with you on the dance floor!

Usatov is a german-russian producer and Dj based in Amsterdam, Netherlands and has a deep affection for electronic music & fritz-kola. His sound ranges from deep and melancholic to groovy and techy ensuring a unpredictable ride through a deep sea of genres. Usatov’s label for records & events 'Dive Deep' shines through numerous track and mix releases by a diverse range of artists and stands for his vision: bringing together a synthesis of deep sounding genres. His versatile style emerged through early influences by deep house compilations from Ibiza, by majestic soundscapes of film scores, by progressive house & melodic techno at his first club encounters in his city of birth Hannover, Germany and by travels around the world. His love for acoustic sounds such as soothing strings, dreamy guitars and saturated pianos accompanied by gritty and driving baselines are blended harmoniously inside his music productions and DJ sets.
