I first found this song awhile ago...thank you for creating this. There's not a lot of songs out there like this and it's really helped me get through a lot. Screw those people with an itchy trigger finger, who constantly feel the need to hurt others.

These past few weeks have been somewhat frustrating. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly is the catalyst for this energy, but I'd be lying if I said everything was going smoothly. The feeling is so strange, but oddly familiar. Fatigued and lostish, recently I find myself waking up and questioning everything. This has definitely happened before but, it's not as potent as I remember. I'm at least aware of these feelings and I suppose that's why I'm at a stalemate. Perhaps I'm searching for a new answer that is hidden beneath something invisible. Perhaps I'm not supposed to be searching for anything and I'm simply meant to continue operations as usual. Most of my feelings I tend to bottle up but something inside of me insists I share my perspective with you. I remember all the reasons why we're doing this and things slowly start to take shape. Whatever this thing may be, I'm really glad I have someone to talk about it with.

As troll as it may seem to name a song after one of my favorite memes, it actually felt pretty natural. "My Body Is Ready". I dunno man, now that I think about it, we probably should've thought of a better name haha. But, y'know I'm always down with gut feelings. It kinda describes this feel I've been having lately too. Full of confidence and ready to take on the world, but simultaneously engulfed in bubble of nervousness. Am I really ready? Nope, not in the slightest. But y'know what they say, the first step to success is convincing yourself that you're ready. Even if you're not, even if you're scared shitless about what the future has in store... if you just tell yourself you're ready...eventually you will be. At least, that's what I've been telling myself all this time.

Not gonna lie though, it's a really fun song! Still pretty kawaii alongside the addition of 8-bit elements and samples. Part of me worries if it's a little too daft but, hey we're in this to take risks and discover ourselves right? It's kinda like when you're entering a new territory in an RPG or when you find some random item and you have no idea what it does but you decide to equip it anyways...or something haha. It got me excited though, because we've yet to combine these things. Consider it a new recipe that I've been wanting to try out for a while. Here's hoping it's palatable! Oh, and I should also note that I've been playing a bit of Super Smash Bros. 3DS so before you ask why, it was all intentional haha. The open ended phrase at the end of the song is little statement wondering where we go from here. I can't see into the future, but I just have this feeling that everything's gonna be okay.

Before I sign off, I really want to thank you for your time, support and patience with me. Due to some unexpected feels I wasn't able to properly "get back into the swing of things" like I said I would on my vlog. So, I really appreciate you understanding and respecting what I'm going through. With that said, things aren't all up to where they should be but...I just want to let you know that I'm doing my best to make our next project something worth experiencing. I hope things are going well for you and things are a little brighter on your side of the planet. I hope this song pumps you up and encourages you to give it your all!

"POKE" is a mixtape/compilation/thing, structured the same way as our 2017 "THAW" compilation.  The first 6 songs are from completely new musicians, who have never been on DESKPOP before, while the rest of the tracks are remixes of existing DESKPOP songs (with some of the remixers making their own DESKPOP debuts as well).

The title was decided upon because of the word's versatility.  As the first track by HiP CoLouR uses it, a poke can be to get someone's attention in a friendly but personal manner, as it implies physical contact.  "Poke" can also be used to describe how seedlings start to pop up out of the ground, similar to how the new producers on this compilation are poking their heads into the music industry.  And finally, a cactus will absolutely poke you if you mishandle it, so the word could have a more aggressive meaning attached to it, like how tracks from Cromulon Twins, pooldad & Low Poly have very in-your-face fun moments.
