I sailed the seven seas with a treasure map
documented discoveries in a book that was leather wrapped
severed the tether setting sail in the stormy weather
as I'm writing this letter with the help of a feathered back
soul searching in search for a better path
wondering what it's like and if it would ever last
imagined it being better than anything I've ever imagined
and then imagined it being better than that

I lost my pacifier, lost my bib
and at 21, I lost my crib
lost my mind when I lost my chic
went crazy looking in toilets but I lost my shit
lost my appetite and I lost it quick
proceeded to lost my lunch when I vomited
lost touch with reality and I lost my grip
lost in the thought of wondering if I could ever put a stop to this
lost my place lost in space lost my way
lost sleep lost time lost the day
lost something invaluable i could not replace
lost my dignity, lost face
found a paddle but I lost the boat
found a lovely tree to hang myself but lost the rope
found the yin to my yan and then lost both
but after I lost it all, i never lost hope 

searched for love in every place that they suggested
searched my texts daily but I didn't get the message
searched until I crashed and burned beneath the wreckage
in the hot pursuit of happiness I drove a little bit reckless
searched the Earth and waves, searched space
searched alphabet blocks while I was looking for wordplay
trying to find myself, but I was doing it in the worst way
can't find what you never lost in the first place
