This actually got released by Central Station Records. I did this for ACE remixes in Melbourne, one of a few I did for them. This sounds so different then the original file I received. When I first played the DAT, I could hear the track was damaged from noise reduction etc... So I only used a few sections and added the rest. My friend Tony did some scratch patterns for me to a click, I had my $100.00 TB 303 which I couldn't sync and used a cheap Yamaha sound module. I was doing editing for a studio at the time so I edited it into stems and multi-tracked it onto a ADAT.


Blue Room - Spread Love (Ace Remix)

Off the first CD. I guess you could call this a mash-up. Since I was DJ'ing when both of these tracks came out I took upon myself to put them both together. It was hard to do at the time with my very limited setup. The support guy for Emagic must of been really hating my gut's by this stage, I hounded him every time I couldn't do something. 

Coolio & Lakeside - Fantastic Mix (Bob Walker Edit)

Off the first CD. Lot of people liked this one, I didn't because I couldn't find all the bit's I wanted, to do it properly. Had to use sections out of the House version and they had this 'woo woo' noise through it etc... Anyway you can't go wrong with the SOS Band drum loop and i was such a huge Jam & Lewis fan back in the day. It worked in well with all the 'Leg Over' songs at the end of the night. Send them home loving, not fighting.

Janet- That's The Way Love Goes (Bob Walker Edit)

Did this around 2004, didn't know how to balance the kick and the bass back then. It's all done with the factory logic plug's. Still have all the sessions somewhere. Some of the elements are still quite usable.

U2 - New years Day (Dub)

Something I have just done. A housed up version of a very commercial Disco tune from a movie I couldn't see, because it was 'R' rated. Back in the day it was every eight graders' nightmare that they couldn't see this movie. Listened to the soundtrack many many times. All done in Logic.

The Bee Gee's - You Should Be Dancing (DSP Remix)

One of the first edits I did almost 20 years ago... There's a few of these up on here now. Had a lot of trouble over-dubbing the original parts of the track due to the amount of quantiization swing used on the original track, something I new nothing about back then. In fact I was a total newbie to it all. But anyway here it is

Soul II Soul – Back To Life (Bob Walker Edit)

Did this in 2000 for my friend Bryan. Actually found all the session files, done with logic and protools. Used protools for DINR to isolate the drums out of the original mix and automated hyperprism fx. You can still hear the bass tone through the kick, but it's ok. Surprised how good the sound is for back then. Quite a happy tune.

Superfunk - Lucky Star (Bob's Mix)

1996. This was my take on the Bucket Heads - The Bomb. The main bed was DJ Tonka - Back to the old school and I added a lot of extra production. Most of the synth sounds came off my new (at the time) Yamaha CS-1v, it allowed you to filter everything and I could sync' arpeggios and on board fx. Good enough to be a release, but it probably would have cost me big time every time it was played. That street player sample was never cleared by Chicago. So it was a no go to any label I sent it to. A lot of DJ's were playing at the time.

The Bucketheads - The Bomb (Disco Tonka Remix)

Always wanted lock this track to tempo, but none of my clever little toys would successfully beat map it. So I did it manually with Radius (Still my favorite algorithm).
I just extended intro with a beat and doubled the bass line parts. If you're after a mashed up or radically restructured version go some where else. It's not what I'm about. I just do them so they are easier to play. 

Chic - Dance Dance Dance (Bob Walker Tempo Locked Mix)

Here is an original sounding remix I'm messing with. This bounce is quite usable if your doing retro or Nu-Disco. Actually thinking of taking this down the Nu-Disco path. All the stems are now locked to 115. In the full edit there is another 3 minutes or so. Initially when I was first playing around with this I tried faster and even slower tempo's, but it seems to sound best at this speed. 

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax (Bob Walker Mix 'So Far')

Did this around 1996, the version I used was on a Pioneer Underground Beats Promo CD. A lot of overdubbing with the new tempo synced delay I had at the time and may have got a bit carried away with it. Every time I play this one out there is always at least one punter comes up, that's never heard the track or the version. I usually prefer the Charles Webster version now. 

Furry Phreaks feat' Terra Diva - Soothe (Bob Walker Mix)

I know I did this in 2000 (could be wrong), even though the Kevin Yost Mix wasn't officially released until 2001. Must have come off one those promo service CD's. I personally didn't like the way the version I had, started or finished. The intro was annoying and put you of the track before it started and it was such a nice track, I loved the production on this version. There was some off the Bass line in a fill somewhere which I re-sampled into the full bass line. The annoying 'kiss-take' thing I used as a hook on the out. For me, It is an easy song to mix now and builds nicer.

DJ Bob Walker - House Mix (The Beginning Of Now) March 2012

Didn't do much to this and it probably took about half an hour to do. Just added an intro and an out. There are heaps of these type edits in my retro DJ folder. Don't really get to play to people that would be into this anymore, most punters now want all the obvious stuff like 'Play that funky music', 'Fantastic Voyage' etc...

Gayle Adams - I'm Warning You (Quick edit) - 12A - 108.3

FNQ's Bob Walker left no stone unturned when he took on this remix.  Working from multi-track, Bob carefully rearranged the entire production, shifting the tempo down to 111 BPM and bringing all the best parts of the track up in the mix. Arranged in Logic - a major amount of reconstruction of the arrangement took place with a hint of additional production that does this classic justice.  Bob left us on December 3 2012 after putting up a very brave fight against Cancer.  I spent a quality week with him in hospital before he passed and his dying wish was to hear this classic remastered.  He got his wish - thanks to Melbourne's mastering guru - Tony 'Jack the Bear' Mantz.  RIP Bobby - this one's up, as you wanted.

Hall & Oates - I Can't Go For That (Bob's Triple One Mix) (Remastered)

I have done hundreds of edit’s, remixes, mixed tapes and quite a lot of originals over the years. Will try and get a lot of it up on this site.
Started DJ’ing in the early 80’s during the New Wave era, was more of a fan of electronic music and a mad collector of the 12” single. Did cut my teeth playing disco and funk at older age venues. Started pushing house music with a lot of resistance from club’s etc., just after the mid 80’s, had all the original labels, Trax, DJ international etc… I did have my way; around 87’ it all really took off and I had around five unbelievably amazing years playing in huge clubs. I was very generous with my time; I trained and started off a lot of DJ’s.
Got fed up with the whole DJ thing in the early 90’s, the scene really changed from the club environment that I was quite comfortable in. The drug’s took over, rave, grunge and indie music (you had to become genre’ specific), scary personalities and any young pup could grab a handful of CD’s give them selves a funny name and become an instant DJ.
I sold a lot of my equipment to buy a very expensive Apple Mac that could do 4 tracks of audio and trigger external midi gear so I could make my own remixes. Started doing stuff for ACE remixes in Melbourne and Hotracks in the US.
I started doing a bit of editing for studios, dancers, anyone that needed something chopped up and built up this reputation of being this ‘computer guy’, this was at a time when the belief was ‘there would never be a place for computers in the recording studio’. As we know now that is not the case.
Not being a musician made life hard for me initially and I was treated with a lot of contempt buy most ‘Musicians’. So I bought a cheap guitar, a friend taught me to play a few simple songs, so I started to collect synths and studio gear. Even though now I just use a computer, midi keyboard and the old NS10’s.
Ironically after doing all this production and stuff, I seem to like writing really simple pop songs on the guitar. But if I had just starting playing guitar at an early age, I wouldn’t have heard all this music and may have given up like 99.9% of musicians do. At heart I'm still a DJ, even though I haven't seriously done it for over twenty years.
