You likely have a dark side — psychology says that everyone does — but there's process that might help you work through that part of yourself. It's called "shadow work," and involves diving into the unconscious material that shapes our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
By illuminating how we construct our identity, mindfulness practice helps us recognize and accept our shadow moment by moment.  Every desirable and undesirable feeling, thought, and image eventually arises in meditation, and we practice noticing and accepting them all.  We see our anger, greed, lust, and fear along with our love, generosity, care, and courage.
When we face our shadow, we can begin to integrate these qualities into our conscious selves. This is a difficult but rewarding process that leads to greater self-awareness and wholeness.

On the flip, Black Light Smoke’s Poppa’s Bagis looser and rougher around the edges, built from dusty samples and a beat that sounds intentionally unstable.

Released in 2012 this EP still stands out as a snapshot of the label’s rawer beginnings.

With a range of percussive elements that keep the groove flowing, and thought provoking vocal samples from a historic speech, this is not just a track… it’s a Revolution.
