This Hebrew liturgical poem (piyyut) tells the story of Naomi and Ruth. Written with the insightful contributions of Neta Elkayam, it imagines a dialogue between both protagonists. Naomi, solitary and old, is surprised by Ruth's attachment to her.  


"My daughter, you know my troubles;
Misfortune is my lot. 
Yet your soul remains entwined with my own - 
I wish good unto you; my speech is peace. 

And Ruth replies- 
"Though robed in mourning, 
The song of your heart 
Is more pleasing to me than any other -
It bears the Torah of life and the love of peace." 

The tune is originally sung to the liturgical poem "Ei Ze Meqom Bin" in the Moroccan tradition.

Hay Korkos  - Liturgical poem (Piyyut) for Shavuot "Biti"

This song weaves together the two joyful and hopeful voices read during Shabbat Shira: Miriam’s song in the Parasha and Deborah’s poem on the Haftara. Paraphrasing the words of Deborah, it ends with a prayer for the hasty return of all the hostages.

This Piyyut can be incorporated in the Shabbat services as a reshut (introductory Piyyut) to the Haftara.

Shir Ifrah - Song of Miriam, Song of Deborah / Piyyut for Shabbat Shira

פיוט זה לשבת שירה, כורך את שירי שתי הנביאות הנקראים בשבת שירה: שירת מרים בפרשת בשלח ושירת דבורה בהפטרה הלקוחה מספר שופטים. 

בסופי הבתים משמשים המוטיבים "ותען מרים", "ותשר דבורה" תפקיד כפול: הם מוסבים על הנאמר לפניהם, ומובילים אל הפזמון "עורי עורי יורדת ים…". דבר זה מודגש במנגינה שהותאמה לו  - לחן הפיוט "לדוד שיר ומזמור" המושר גם על פיוט "יהי שלום בחילנו".

הפיוט נכתב לפני פרעות אוקטובר תשפ"ד, אך עם פרסומו לקראת שבת שירה של אותה שנה, קיבל הבית האחרון שלו משמעות כפולה ועצובה: המילה "פרעות" המוזכרת בו כבר אינה רמז למילותיה של דבורה בלבד, והמילים "מהרה ישיב את שבים" הופכות מחתימה קונבנציונלית אודות פזורות ישראל לתפילה וזעקה לגאולת כל השבויים בעזה.

Ariel Danan - Song of Miriam, Song of Deborah / Piyyut for Shabbat Shira

Hannah’s prayer is regarded by the Sages of the Talmud as the archetype of all prayer — the source from which many core principles of Jewish prayer are derived (Berakhot 31).
This piyyut weaves together Hannah’s words with the halakhic insights drawn from them. It is a heartfelt prayer, set to the melody of Shulamit Shuvi.

פיוט זה מיוסד על דברי התלמוד הבבלי במסכת ברכות (לא, א–ב), הדנים בתפילתה של חנה. הבית הראשון מקביל לפתיחת רב המנונא: "כמה הלכתא גברוותא איכא למשמע מהני קראי דחנה!" ("כמה הלכות גדולות יש ללמוד מאותם המקראות של תפילת חנה!"), וכל אחד מן הבתים שלאחריו חורז את אחת ההלכות הנלמדות בסוגייה יחד עם מקורה המקראי בספר שמואל. סגנון הכתיבה בגוף ראשון ובנימה אינטימית, בד בבד עם היצמדות לתבנית וחריזה המקובלים במסורת הפיוט, מהווים חידוש ואולי עדכון של מסורת עתיקת יומין זו, מתוך המסורת עצמה. 

מתוקף תוכנו משמש פיוט זה גם רשות (פיוט מקדים) למפטיר ביום הראשון של ראש השנה, הקורא בהפטרה את סיפור תפילת ופקידת חנה. 

הצלע הראשונה של כל טור חרוזה בחריזה פנימית ייחודית לבית המסויים, בעוד שצלעה השנייה חרוזה בחרוז אחיד לכל אורך הפיוט. כל בית מסתיים במילה "חנה", ובסוף הטור הראשון מופיעות לסירוגין אותיות ח-נ-ה וכ-נ-ה. 

לחן הפיוט שהולבש לו הוא בידי המחבר הוא הלחן הנפוץ לפיוט "שולמית שובי" בגרסה שהקליט הפייטן ג'ו עמר, בשני שינויים עיקריים: השמטת חלק המנגינה המתאים לצמד המילים "שיר, שיר", והתאמת המנגינה לרוח התפילה המאפיין פיוט זה.

שיר יפרח - אל אשר חסדו (פיוט לראש השנה)

במסגרת פרויקט דיואן אשירה יצאו לאור ארבעה פיוטים חדשים למועדי השנה מאת אפרים הכהן. כל פיוט עוסק בדמות שונה, הקשורה במועד לשמו נכתב הפיוט (ראש השנה - חנה, שבת שירה - מרים ודבורה, תענית אסתר - פורים, שבועות - נעמי ורות).

הפיוטים התקבלו בהתלהבות ואף אומצו במספר קהילות בישראל, בארצות הברית ובאירופה.
