It's kind of Russian, Rachmaninoff-like. I like the rhythms and the horns. It's kind of back to the short form and using key relationships rather than worrying about transitions.

A scherzando; another name for another free form piece. This one is a quite energetic and playful progressive rock track.

A rondo is sort of an extended song form only instead of A B A, it kind of goes; A B A C A D and so on. This is a happy hardcore look at an old form.

Electra Suite Movement 1

As I embarked on this project of creating the Electra Suite, I started reading about the character Electra to see if I wanted to go with the Greek tragedy or the Marvel character and I decided they were both the same character; she is not a happy character. The Marvel character reforms a bit but the one in the Greek tragedy just gets the Furies dancing over her. This movement is the entrance of Clytemnestra, Electra's mum, who murdered her husband Agamemnon.

I finally had a revelation about this story, or the three versions of it, as they really bothered me. I came to the conclusion that ancient Greek plays were just as susceptible to propaganda and censorship as any 'modern' works. So I went with the original meaning of 'Elektra' as "the bright one."

Electra Suite Movement 3;  'How the Other Half Lives'

This synthpop track is a fitting fourth movement to the Electra Suite, inspired by the meaning of the name Electra, which means 'The Bright One.' Kind of like Uncle Fester, I guess. Well, we still have the Dance of the Furies coming up.

This is the part of the story where Electra realizes 'you don't have to live like a refugee,' and seizes fate by the throat, so to speak. This synthpop track, as well as the other movements, reflects my own take on the story, minus the early propaganda which was introduced in the early plays. I wrote a blog post about this.

Electra Suite Movement 5 Twisting With the Fates

This is the sixth and final movement to The Electra Suite. In the original Greek play, the Furies show up and drive Electra crazy. (Symbolic of her conscience.) In this movement they show up and dance in Disco cages- If you think this is somehow different from the 'original,' -you get it!

Of all the female characters that some of my compositions have invoked for me, I believe I love young Jane Clark the best. This instrumental music track is a rock version of a bluegrass standard; Old Joe Clark, and even though Joe was obviously quite daffy, he's no match for Jane.
