I prepared this drum and bass mix before my recent trip to Bali. I selected drum and bass tunes that are fresh, upbeat and soulful for my days at the beach, relaxing by the pool, bike ride through the rice paddies on my way to yoga class.

‘Wanna B 3’, from ST Files & Response. ST first graced CIA all the way back in 2001 with ‘305’. His and Response’s collaboration here comes in the form of a deep and hypnotic Detroit tinged roller. A perfect track for rolling out in the mix, it’s the ideal tool for setting a vibe and getting the club locked in.

Originally a USA-only Mix CD in peak-Electroclash-era 2001, John B has remastered Brainstorm (in his newly built studio), and added 4 previously unreleased tracks from that time including the rare “Synthpop Electro Mix” of ‘Up All Night’ to the package. Previously unavailable anywhere digitally, and now with the individual DJ-Friendly tracks alongside the mixed versions, this is a great album for D&B collectors and fans of John’s early explorations into what would become his ‘Electrostep’ Sound.
