Complete recording of my all night set at Nowadays in all it’s flawed glory. First 20 minutes or so I was still loading my usb in the booth, after that I fully lock in and don’t step away from the mixer until the set is finished (nope no breaks, not once!).

This was the journey of my little dj lifetime, big big love to everyone who was there for any part of it <3

BULLSEYE's fifth edition is brought to you by Iris (they/she). Based in Montréal, the promoter, DJ, and selector extraordinaire runs Underground Love Affair.

Message from Iris:

This was the first mix I recorded in the New Year. I was really excited by the content and wanted to take some risks with it and push the gear that I was using to its limit. There's a lot of experimentation that went into the mixing like utilizing loops in vinyl mode with the pitch slider as a manual delay for example. 
The mix entirely consists of underground selections from South America. 
A lot are independently released and very few have a vinyl release.
That being said, I wanted to showcase just how good these finds were. 
A lot of time went into researching and curating for this mix and I'm really happy to share what I've discovered.

This mix was a bit of a puzzle to decipher and sadly I couldn't include everything I found. There are a lot of different styles I wanted to include and to make them blend I sometimes relied on the feeling and energy they gave me instead of trying to match them by their musical components.
It was a different and challenging way to mix but I'm very satisfied with the final product and I hope you find the same joy in listening to it that I did in recording it.  

This mix was recorded on 2 cdj 350s and an x-one 23:c mixer.

On opening resident duties is none other than bounce boss Furtive, a genre-agnostic sonic shock-trooper with a unique touch for re-writing the rhythm of the rave by subtly weaving in surprising whiplash moments of the psychedelic and sentimental. You'll never quite know what you'll get, but tuned to the room and the night's lineup, it's sure to take you places.

Hailing from Brussels, music producer, DJ, and Maloca Records boss, Le Motel effortlessly bridges music and visual artistry.   Le Motel gained critical acclaim with his 2015 breakthrough album ‘OKA’. He has since gone on to start his own imprint, Maloca Records, which has seen him take on new creative endeavours in both his solo work and in collaborations with artists such as Clara!, Bryte, Logan and Magugu.  2023 has been a pivotal year in Le Motel's career having collaborated on a track with UK Grime artist Flowdan for the latest Fabric compilation, composed the soundtrack to Bottega Veneta's AW23 Show and toured China and Canada in the Summer months. His latest release on YUKU experiments with 160bpm polyrhythms and draws on his prior footwork-style music.    Beyond his artistic pursuits, Le Motel's prowess as a DJ continues to enrapture crowds, firmly establishing him at the forefront of the contemporary music and visual arts scene. 

Le Motel's new album ''Odd Numbers / Số Lẻ’ will be released on Balmat February 28th’.
