DJ Barney feat. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Over The Rainbow (Remix)

DJ Barney is one of the pioneers of Drum & Bass in Brazil. He started his career in 1991, when he was 16, in the extinguished and the greatest nightclub icon in São Paulo: Hippodromo.

In 1993, he was discovered by the businessmen from WCR and invited to join the TOCO team (the 26 year-long Brazilian most successful nightclub) where his prestige and the nightclub huge structure allowed him to attract the public attention to the alternative tunes.

In 1994, he motivated DJ Marky to share the club decks aiming to make the Hardcore/Jungle music scene in São Paulo stronger.

With his precise technique and innovating concepts and characteristics, he captured the public attention and got a radio program on Metropolitana FM, in São Paulo.

Barney changed his mind in 1997, when he spent the whole summertime Djing at Sirena Club, in Maresias Beach, in the State of São Paulo.

 In 1998, he was invited to DJ at Over Night, where he stayed until the end of the year, when he graduated and became a Lawyer.

2001 – Cabral nightclub gets one more pick-ups master: DJ Barney takes this new challenge successfully until the actual days and consolidates the East Zone as the Drum & Bass homeland in São Paulo.

Pioneer in Brazil, DJ Barney brought from Europe the “Final Scratch”, the most innovating tool for DJs since the SL 1200 MK2 Technics turntables.

Barney also creates the BeatStrong project in association with DJ Lucky, Fernando Schaefer, which is an acknowledged drummer in the brazilian Metal/Hardcore scene and ex-member from Rodox, the argentinean saxophonist Martin Sarrasague and the percussionist Joni Anglister.

DJ Barney and the musicians make live performances – as known as Live P.A. – in which the musicians follow the DJ rhythms, adding even more vibe to the DJ set. 

2003 – Barney got in the universe of the musical studios in searching of developing his own productions in association with DJ Hunt & Cassoli. The result of his first steps is the remix for the song “This Is Your Life” from Banderas.

2005 – Always visionary, DJ Barney brings to Brazil equipment similar to the Final Scratch: the “Virtual DJ”, which mixes up videos by manipulating a vinyl. Besides a DJ, now he is also known as “DVJ” – Disc Video Jockey. 

2007 - Barney takes a place at the Urbano Club and shows the public the jazzier and more Brazilian Drum & Bass subgenre. Back to the studio, he makes a new Drum & Bass remix. This time, he pays homage to Sérgio Mendes and his tune: “Mas Que nada”.

Barney has also Djed in lots of importants brazilian nightclubs: Lov.e, Blood, Vip Room, Diva, Twist, Columbia, Ocean Drive, Sound Factory, Limelight, Kripton, Resumo da Ópera, Allure, Ilha de Capri, Broadway, Bar Conceição, Infinity, Acapulco (Rio Preto e Curitiba), Club:e (BH), Tass (Foz do Iguaçu), Blow Up (Vila Velha), Multiplace Mais (Guaraparí), MaxiPlace (Vitória) , Festival de Alegre (ES) e Café Cancun (SJC), just to mention a few.

In his sets, the B2B (Back to Backs), scratches and lots of Drum & Bass drive people crazy. His precise technique and musical background turn him into one of the best DJs of the style in Brazil.
