This mix is as close to religious experience as it gets :) When Sneak and DC ruled the world in the second half the 90ies it sounded exactly like this. Twisted, passionate, deep and funky. The legendary mixtape circa 97 from the Industry night club in Toronto, Sneak and Carter are playing back to back. Both sides of the tape on this mix.

Born in the bay area San Jose C.A, Ray-D is well known for his jazzy, abstract funky sound. Coming from a musical background, his mother sang back up for numerous groups and his father that was big on collecting records. Ray-D got his start in producing back in 2003. After a few years Ray-D set producing aside to focus on remixing for numerous record pools throughout the United States, also holding a residency as an On Air mixer in the Central Coast of California (Monterey). Ray-D is currently back in the studio working on production and the sounds of underground house music.

Undoubtedly one of the high-lights of my DJing career, I was lucky enough to play at this iconic Ibiza club/venue for a memorable all day-party last summer, to celebrate the Birthday of local legend Ian ‘the frog’. A live recording of my afternoon set from the outside terrace by the pool, a lovely place to spin a few tunes 😊 A vinyl only set, I dusted off tracks from some of my all-time favourite artists including Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, Kraftwerk, Fleetwood Mac & the Stereo MC’s , but to name a few…

Music includes a mixture of classic Disco, Eighties, Electro-Funk, Ital Disco and a sprinkling of House/90’s Hip-Hop. It was great to meet so many sound people at the party and over that weekend - some special memories of those few days on the White Isle...

Back in the post acid house mists of time, a new kind of dance music began to emerge called 'deep house'. We know, hard to believe! 

There weren't many places to hear it; Plastic People and Space in London, DIY and The Bomb in Nottingham, the Sub Club in Glasgow, and in Manchester, Robodisco.

It started as a one off Thursday at The Paradise Factory with Derrick Carter in his first Northern gig, went weekely on a Wednesday round most of the city's venues before settling in to its glory years at Planet K.  

Of course, it wasn't just 'deep house' but house of every stripe, disco, techno and anything that moved the floor. The DJ list is pretty eye watering to look at  now; Josh Wink, DJ Harvey, Farley & Heller, Kerri Chandler, Romanthony and the list goes on.

But of course, like all the best clubs, the residents were the ones who really rocked it. Miles Hollway, Elliot Eastwick, Ben Davis and a little know Parisian called Erik Rug who could blend Detroit, disco and the deep stuff in to a heady brew of mayhem.

So crank the air raid siren, light a fag, crack a Red Stripe and get dancing in your oversized cargo pants x
