JS2 is a DJ duo consisting of J.Splat and Daemia. While they enjoy playing multiple genres, this mix is for the drum and bass heads. This recording was from a live practice session for Off the Grid and is in support of the Monarch stage that hosted the Drum n Bass area.

This mix is a semi accurate embodiment of the many different facets of my personality. It’s bold, tough, resilient, intense, “flawesome,” time-tested, entertaining, thoughtful, emotional, stubborn at times, funny, and displays a range across many styles of DNB. In this recording you will hear techy rollers, classic DNB anthems, liquid, old school jump up, neurofunk, dancefloor style, jungle, and just a dash of tear out. It’s a pretty intense roller coaster that may tug on your heartstrings and just might hit you right in the feels. This mix is raw and uncut and has only been amplified. You will also hear some occasional surface noise and pops and clicks. Some enhancements have been added for entertainment purposes. The full mix bio, backstory and tracklist is in the Google Doc link at the end of this description. 

The mix will be a history lesson for the younger generation and a nostalgic trip down memory lane for the OG drum and bass soldiers who paved the way. I invite you to feel all of the feels, dance your heart out if you’re feeling it, work out to this mix, or power through a challenging project around the house. I recommend cruise control if driving a vehicle ;-) 

While I encourage you to listen to the mix in its entirety, if it’s too agro and crunchy for you, you will find the groovier, funkier and liquid type tunes starting at 2 hours and 25 minutes. I hope you stay until the end for some extra easter eggs that your ears will say thank you for. 

This project is one that I hold near and dear to my heart as I share my story with you and I hope you enjoy it and share it with the world if you are so inclined.

This was a recorded practice session for my recent set at Breakbeat BBQ in Los Angeles and I selected tracks that really spoke to me. I hope that the vibes and lyrics in some of the tracks are cathartic in releasing the pressure from tensions our world is facing. It’s a thoughtful combo of beauty, darkness, profound radical self expression and powerful messages that take the words right out of my mouth. I had such a good time putting this together and I don’t really feel like censoring any imperfections or re-recording it, so I hope you enjoy this mix I made in real time as is, knowing that it was my one and only take. Time is of the essence, so I'm choosing progress over perfection and letting the music do some much needed preaching.

Due to some recording level issues, only the earlier part of the set was able to be salvaged prior to our epic tag team set, so please enjoy this 40 minute mix where I had the absolute time of my life at one of the largest festivals in North America! This was a practice session my husband Jason Splat and I (collectively known as the duo "JS2") recorded right before leaving for Contact at the Miracle Springs Resort and Spa in Desert Hot Springs in California thrown by Red Sonya, Alien Tom and the Native Alien crew. We were to play a pool party on Sunday morning at 11am at a beautiful resort on a sunny day. So grab your nearest pina colada, some sunscreen, a hammock under a shady palm tree, and press PLAY for some deep soul-soothing poolside music that will elevate your mood and possibly even your state of consciousness...
