The tape recorder was running, this was about 3a.m. on a Chicago night 2001. My friday night party, "The Hole". We did this party for about a year in Chicago, it was private. I gave Toby many of these recordings, he named this tape like many back then I made by what songs struck him the most. This night is so clear still, many great moment and memories This first from the main boxes of my cassette collection will be an endless series of tape transfers of my music journey through life.

Initially this was supposed to come out on the HOUSE MASTERS FRANKIE KNUCKLES Compilation on Defected.
To make a long story short... it never did, I was given the blessing from Judy Weinstein (Def Mix Productions Founder) along with Hector Romero to do as I please with this version.
I did this with my keyboardist Erik Deutsch the day after I attended Frankie Knuckles funeral because I felt like I needed to do something not just in his honor but to continue to raise awareness of who this ICON is and undoubtedly none of us house heads should ever forget.
The whistle song is what introduced me to his music so it was only right that I created a version that captured the soul & beauty of the original BUT I wanted to give it more of a BALLAD feel, a version WE CAN ALL USE to close out a great party in his honor when we have them or simply to just hear at your restaurant, lounge, chill/comfort zone.

So ENJOY THIS FREE DOWNLOAD and please play it when and where ever you can no matter where you are.

While the sounds of this raucous crowd was not recorded, if you listen closely you can feel the palpable energy as the lightly audible noise of jubilated dancers come through the stylus. Inés is a Chicago based DJ, record collector, party organizer, and visual artist. Her interest in dance music was focused during her time working at the renowned underground party Durty Truth, and later through her own party, Work Ethic. She credits mentors Darryn Jones and Mark Grusane (among others) with forming her taste in the more obscure corners of disco and soul, as well as helping her form a relationship with music based in honesty, courage, and trust in the higher power of sound.
Work Ethic remains her labor of love: month after month, Inés and a team of Chicago's best push to keep putting on one of Chicago's most beloved independent parties. The party's notable guests always share one trait: They work hard.
