Frankie Goes To Hollywood and New Order - Blue Tribes

DASCO's energy is infectious. Just watch a clip of her behind the decks or catch her in action IRL and you'll find it impossible to disagree.

It's always a joy to see an artist vibing out and DASCO has been spreading this positive spirit wherever she goes, from her current home of Berlin to her native Tel Aviv and across the world in places like Sydney, Tokyo and Johannesburg.

The sense of freedom and connection she evokes on the dance floor translates to her mission to level the playing field for women, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ artists with the music industry. Earlier this year she launched Bisexuality Exists, a record label that works on the fact that "music - like life - is rarely ever black or white", and that there are "so many beautiful colours and shades in-between". The inaugural release, Get High With Me, came from DASCO herself, and is the perfect introduction to the uplifting club sounds that will form the label's musical ethos.
 
Just like her DJ sets and her previous releases for Local Talk, Housewax and upcoming outing for Shall Not Fade, the release blends DASCO's core influences; there's nods to 90s rave and acid house but through a fresh, contemporary lens.

Ahead of her set at Polifonic this weekend in Puglia, she treats us to a high energy pre-party mix of hands-in-the-air house, acid and techno, and gives us some free DASCO tips for a happy and healthy life...

Renceau invited me to come play at the vinyl-only edition of Penthouse in Leeuwarden. Alongside very talented DJ’s I had lots of fun and really enjoyed all the lovely dancers. Big up Penthouse ❤️, till next time.

This is a good moment for some background info regarding my DJ sets and this one in particular.

I treat each set as its own special moment in time and space and sets rarely sound the same. The range of my style is also rather broad with various tempos and colours on the palette. For me, what a set becomes very much depends on the setting and mood, though it's always a sonic journey ought to speak to both body (complex/layered rhythms) and mind (captivating, trance-inducing, and emotive aspects), aiming for the greatest impact on the crowd (and myself), mixed with typical components like thick&wobbly basslines and vocal cuts.

This set for Paradigm x Zeezout became a very immersive one, with a lot of emotions in it. Tension and release, light and heavy, dark and luminous, experimental and easy-grooving to warm up the room properly during this beautiful indoor day-festival.

3hrs (14:00-17:00) of constantly 2 and 3 decks in the mix. Together with the ambience of the Basement that day I'm very content with how it turned out. And the mix has some imperfections, but I guess that's inevitable when experimenting and taking heaps of creative risks. Hope you enjoy(ed) it like I did and let me know about your experience- always looking to hear about those.

Also: this was my very first time playing in the amazing Zeefgebouw, where I've spent many Paradigm party-hours over the past years and which holds a special place in my heart, and it did not disappoint. Very grateful to have been given the honour to fill the space with music before legends DJ Europarking, Mor Elian and Helena Hauff.
