Roberto Capuano returns with his first Drumcode EP since 2015.

The Neapolitan has long occupied a special place in the heart of Adam Beyer. His cut ‘Never Stop’ is one of the finest Truesoul releases in recent years and he came up trumps with Drumcode’s 150th release in 2015 with ‘The Wilford’ EP, featuring the dub techno groover ‘Obsessed’. His last outing on Drumcode was the fantastic ‘Limitless’, a collaboration with Luigi Madonna that featured on A-Sides Vol.6 in 2017.

‘The Walker EP’ is Capuano’s most full-bodied work on Drumcode to date. The title track is a stealth combination of punishing drums and dystopian arpeggios building up a dark brew of energy. ‘Segment’ is a flamboyant follower, all six minutes of spine-tingling synth stabs and chopped up vocal effects perfect for peak time moments. ‘On Your Skin’ is no less captivating, a huge Beyer favourite throughout the summer months, its exhilarating combination of rousing vocal, swirling synths and catchy riff make it a slam dunk. The slick ‘Sirio’ concludes the quadruplet of cuts, as stomping grooves rub shoulders with multi-layered melody lines for a satisfying finish.

Haven are kicking off 2020 with a boom with a new EP of politically pessimistic dance-floor-ready weapons from label boss Keepsakes. Following on from his exploration of chunky slow rippers on 2019’s ‘Modern Anxious Vernacular’, this next edition in the Haven mastermind’s discography puts greater emphasis on rhythmic groove for the dancers among us.

The record starts with ‘And So The Feckless Fall’ on the A1, featuring shuffling drum rhythms and ethereal vocal work, descending in to a menacing, swung synth-line for maximum club effect. This is followed by ‘Blue Boy Fucks It All’ on the A2. Reminiscent of the slo-mo bangers of Keepsakes’ last EP, this crawler of a track is initially propelled by its moody synth melody and booming drums, with a mid-track switch up putting melancholic pad chords front-and-centre. The flip side begins with ‘Ignorant Irony’ - a certified floor smasher prioritising groove with it’s swinging drum rhythms, cheeky vocal samples and sinister synth sounds. The record ends with a remix of the B1 from UVB - who reimagines the track in to a sneering, ominous slammer, with brutal yet groovy drum work and sampling closing the EP with another no-nonsense banger.

the rise of the techno movement in France & Europe since the end of the 90s. David Asko shares the stage with internationally renowned artists such as Dax-J, Rebekah, Paula Temple, Ben Klock, Jeff Mills, Luke Slater, I Hate Models, Marcel Dettmann, Laurent Garnier … These meetings are not only revealing of his talent, but also the way in which he is considered by the techno community international.
Beyond his technique and his essential mastery of turntables, he is also a
sought-after producer. For almost 30 years, he has been playing everywhere on the techno scene international, his discography is in his image: radical and committed, underground and eclectic !
