Here's a short 1 hour clip of my marathon 7 hour live jungle set at March 2024 Art Hop in Fresno, CA with Bad Kids Club on Fulton Street. We go renegade style with a generator and my soundsystem unloaded from my trunk right onto the sidewalk. This is all for the love of music and breaking new sounds to a new audience, Its the one gig I play monthly these days and its my favorite event of the month locally by far. This is my opening set at MPYRE 2023 the Regional Monterey Burning Man Decompression event.  I had played this event a few years back and had a great time and was excited to return, even though I haven't been to Burning Man in recent years.  Once a Burner, always a Burner.  I played an open-format EDM style set on the Shrimp stage (one of 3 sound stages) on Del Monte Beach in Monterey.  Big thanks to the MPYRE crew and all the volunteers who help make events like this possible.  We had a great time and can't wait to be back. Its always fun getting to play whatever I want and get creative with my sets - so fun!  Hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed playing it :)  Cheers, DJ Diagnosis

Alpha Shrimp Strikes Back by DJ Diagnosis

I started DJing in the mid-90s in college on a room-mates DJ gear when he was not using it himself.  Then for a stretch I was without my own gear and tried making mix-tapes by cutting up audio cassettes on a dual cassette recorder with lots of samples from records and cassette tapes from my childhood.  That process, little did I realize at the time, has heavily influenced my sound as a DJ.  I still love trying to keep all my sets entertaining both musically and visually by performing along-side the tracks I play by adding loops, samples, scratching and turntables tricks to make it feel like a performance.  To be honest it helps me stay connected to the music and I generally play tracks I really like so its a nice way for me to get to pretend like I'm playing along with the performers who created the tracks.

I love all kinds of music and love to mix up my sets with a diverse range of musical choices to keep it fresh.  Generally I love music that is not too repetitive or monotonous, especially breaky stuff with lots of character - be it super heavy bass, dirty production, or retro sounds.  I started Djing on vinyl and skipped the whole CD era entirely.  A couple of years ago I finally made the switch to Serato and still play with the turntable interface as I can't imagine Djing without scratching being a heavy element.  However, technology is great as well and as much as I'd wish I was a purist I love the advancements recently.  I just bought my first controller and can't wait to see all the goodies I can throw in to my sets... in addition to everything that I already do.  

As an aside my publicist reminds me to let people know that all the sets I post on Soundcloud are live recordings of me mixing with no post-production or editing - what you hear is what is coming out of the speakers live with me mixing everything by hand with no auto-sync, mix-in-key, or any other tricks aside from a few cue points to remind me when to get out of the track and into the next one before the point of no return.  Hope you can appreciate the human feel to my mixes.
