I actually first heard this track on your show !!! Dj disciple play this but it was a piano mix not this one ! I also first heard more than anything by daryl D when it first dropped on your show . I was too young to get into the clibs back then but I really began to hear real house music first by listening to your show on 91point something lol one luv bro

I promised back in August my return show would be an artist spotlight on Ron Trent. Little did I know then Phonox London were going to book him for their 8th birthday last weekend so it seemed only fitting to make this show happen tonight.
2 hours of Ron jams, remixes and collaborations which in only 2 hours only gives us time to scratch the surface of a man who has such a vast catalogue of music.

Michael Watford - The Voice To Hear Dedication Mix| DJ Disciple.

The first time I heard the name Michael Watford was when Roger Sanchez and Eddie Perez were doing the same song  ("Holdin' On") for East-West Records back in 1991. His voice would indelible mark on the hearts of fans and the industry alike. He was a vocal powerhouse that became the face of Soulful House music.  I knew he was going to be big after going to Roger Sanchez's home one day. Sanchez gave me an unreleased mix of "Michael's Prayer" that I dropped for Wildpitch at Kilimanjaro that year which drove the crowd mad. I would listen to it over and over again on repeat by myself in a room. 
He had "The Voice", and Timmy  Regisford at The Shelter in New York made "Holdin' On" a big anthem in the city. What Regisford did for Watford was even on a grander scale when it came to London.  Paul Trouble Anderson made sure the whole country knew who he was. My UK agent at the time JP Firmin started working with him. Because we had the same agent, we both lived in the same house in the UK when he started touring. In 1994, his songs "Luv-4-2", and "So Into You"  became go-to records and I was on the bill for some of those performances. Hard Times at Bagleys, he and I rocked with Todd Terry, and Ricky Morrison at the Leisure Lounge, Shindig in Newcastle, and the list went on and on. 
I was truly humbled when I got the chance to remix the Marshall Jefferson single that he and Robert Owens appeared on. 'Come Together", the tune I remixed was done at Bass-Hit Studios with James Preston on keys in Manhattan.  I felt so much pressure to get this remix right. Watford was a mentor, who left an incredible imprint on house music. It's the last song on this mix that I put together to just remember him. Working not just with Kerri Chandler, Roger Sanchez, and Smack Productions, but also with Masters At Work, Jamie Lewis, and Marshall Jefferson (to name a few). 

While I am so sad that he has left us, the impact that he made in House music for us will live forever. He is "The Voice To Hear".

Whether he’s dropping beats or dropping jaws, DJ Disciple is changing the game of modern music forever. David Banks, aka DJ Disciple, is an internationally-touring artist, DJ, radio host, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. He is most famous for his success on the music charts, including his hit single, "On the Dancefloor," which peaked at #67 in the UK Singles Chart in 1994, and his Grammy-nominated track “Caught Up,” which earned the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in 2002 and was later featured on the Showtime series “Queer as Folk” in 2006. Disciple has also earned his way to the top in the world of remixes, and won an ARIA music award in Australia for his remix of producer Steven Allkins, aka Love Tattoo’s hit, “The Bass Has Got Me Movin.”

Disciple grew up with music in his genes. His father played piano with Miles Davis and his brother slapped bass for George Benson. Disciple got his start as a gospel DJ and, staying true to his religious roots, coined his name as a constant reminder that “only what you do for Christ shall last”. He started his professional career in 1987 when he worked as a radio host and mixer for WNYE FM, and quickly gained a loyal following of listeners. In the 90’s, he hosted “The Best Kept Secret”, a mix show also on WNYE (FM), where he spun the hottest new underground tracks from rising artists. From there, he moved on to touring as a DJ in 1992 with his eyes set on global success.

Disciple started out strong, and his first professional DJ gig was at the famous Studio 54 in New York. After that, Discple moved onto playing in the UK. As he traveled, his fan base quickly grew in size and diversity. By the time he debuted his first single on Muzik Pushers in 1993, his career was well on its way to the top. Since then, he has toured internationally and led the way for a modern era of DJs.

DJ Disciple is just as much an entrepreneur as he is a musician, and has had great success through starting his own record label, Catch 22 Recordings. The label is consistently putting out quality tracks, but one of the most noteworthy releases on this label was Disciple’s hit single, "Work It Out" featuring Dawn Tallman, which debuted in 2006. This track was also re-released on House Trained Records in the UK and made appearances on MTV and BBC Radio 1.

More recently, Disciple collaborated with Collette Mclaffery on “Birdseye View”. Their track is due out June 2017. Disciple is currently finishing his untitled book. Its publication is set for 2018. In 2017 Disciple’s label, Catch 22, celebrated its 20th year of releasing music. Here’s to the future, and to 20 more years of revolutionizing the music industry.
