Eric Louis is back on Devilish Affair, advancing the "Adventures" theme from the labels first 2 vinyl EPs, this time w/ friends Francesco Mami & Lola Palmer.  

This latest chapter is enhanced by exclusive contributions from tastemakers Lola Palmer (Berg Audio, GetTraum) and Francesco Mami (Satya), who bring their unique perspectives to the project.

Eric’s original track “Dangerous Not Blind” leads the release with pulsing sub bass and classic fm chord stabs while shadowy vocal samples offer cautionary warnings of a dystopian future.

Francesco Mami delivers a drummy, hypnotic take on Eric’s track “Dangerous Not Blind,” building a richly textured rhythm that pulls listeners into deep techno hypnosis, perfect for late-night sessions.

On the B Side, Lola Palmer offers a “Dangerous” take of “That Bass,” balancing ethereal dub elements adding depth and energy to the original.

Adventures with Friends unfolds as both a compelling journey and a refined addition to Devilish Affair that dares listeners to dance – and to question – as the beat marches toward an uncertain future.

Eric Louis returns to his own Devilish Affair with 4 dubbed out original cuts. Vinyl only, 180grams. 

In 2021, the New Jersey based producer & DJ launched his Devilish Affair imprint with the Adventures EP which was supported by many leading names in the industry. 

Eric’s story continues with a follow up to the label’s debut in the form of "Adventures Part 2.”

Drama’ leads the release and lays down a dynamic stab-led hook at its core while a bumpy vacillating rhythm, murky textures and low-end pulsations carry the ever-evolving groove throughout. ‘Café Dubs Part 1’ follows and dives deeper courtesy of sweeping atmospherics, expansive reverberations and airy pads running atop a minimalistic drum groove. 

‘Floating Away’ is up next and as the name would suggest offers a cosseting feel via ethereal, billowing pad lines, soft chord stabs, twinkling synth chimes and low-slung percussion. 

Closing it out, ‘School Yard’ then leans into darker realms with hazy, heavily reverberated stabs, hypnotic voices, crisp drums and choppy bass hits

The ship smoothly passed through the protective field and docked on the landing pad. The vast complex, surrounded by a wasteland of mangled metal and scorched soil, was guarded by a multitude of faceless soldiers. The angular spires of watchtowers rose ominously and pierced the sky like the sharp teeth of an ancient leviathan. At the top was the command centre filled with rows of flickering monitors full of a staggering amount of data and records. Technicians bustled about to keep all systems and equipment running as normal.

As the cargo airlock opened, the mercenaries began moving crates and containers onto the pallet of a levitating forklift. Using holographic cloaks, the friends easily passed the guards and proceeded deep into the corridors and staircases. Around some corner, the laboratory space opened up in front of them, packed with shiny machinery and mysterious equipment. The sharp odour of ozone and rot permeated the air, and the operating tables were covered with the remains of failed experiments. A new generation prototype of a mutant soldier, a synthesis of mechanical enhancements and biomanipulation capable of conquering and exterminating entire planets, stared lifelessly from the platform in the centre of the room. Tubes and wires looped around its body, plugged into ports and connectors embedded in its flesh.

– Strange things have happened here.
– Definitely, Cat. If they complete this freak and start production, the world as we know it will end.
– We must do something to prevent that!
– Good thinking. Let's blow this damn place up!

Based in the NYC area, Eric Louis joins us for a journey of sonic memories from his time during Manhattan’s 2000’s nightlife. A frequent shopper at legendary record stores such as 8Ball and Satellite, he often came to find records he heard at Sound Factory & Danny Tenaglia’s Vinyl. This mix contains tracks from Faithless, X-Press 2, Victor Calderone & more. 

After starting to DJ himself in 2003, releases soon followed on labels such as Get Physical and Nervous. In 2021 he launched his own label Devilish Affair which focuses on dub leaning house & techno. As a new comer to vinyl, his first two EPs made it to the top of the sales charts at Decks.de and garnered support for artists like Truncate, Ryan Elliott, & Andrey Pushkarev. Eric is currently doing label showcases & gigs in Washington DC & Brooklyn.

Eric Louis is a DJ/producer with  refined taste & skills both behind the decks and in the studio. 

Eric’s early experiences came from the days of big NYC night clubs as he was an assistant  at Deeper Rekords, where he gained early production experience crafting edits that became staples in the marathon sets of Sound Factory foreman Jonathan Peters, an iconic Manhattan DJ renowned for his weekly Saturday residency & legendary theme parties. 

In the 2010’s he released on NYC Nervous, Berlin’s Get Physical & Victor Calderone’s Matter. 

In 2021, Eric launched his own imprint, Devilish Affair, as a platform for his signature dub-leaning sounds. The label's quality shines through its diverse roster and distinctive aesthetic. With 13 standout releases to date, Devilish Affair pairs futuristic, Bladerunner-inspired visuals with a forward-thinking musical identity—a combination we wholeheartedly celebrate.

For this Frontier mix, Eric delves into the sounds that define both him and his label, blending a variety of current releases with a treasure trove of unreleased gems. In the heart of a post-apocalyptic city, Spacelunch was making his way through the ruins, wearing a heavy armour of metal plates and flickering circuitry. Cat settled on his shoulder, listening intently to every sound. This time, they weren't just looking for an artefact — their target was the Singularity Echo, a mysterious device created right before the catastrophe. Legend had it that the scientists of the past, sensing the impending collapse, had put all their accumulated experience and knowledge together to create it. It was said that one day “Echo” would awaken and allow descendants to touch the wisdom of the ancients, learn the secrets of forgotten technologies and, perhaps, avoid the fatal mistakes of the past.

— We’ve been wandering around for how long? — muttered Cat, looking around warily. — And nothing.
— Sitting up there complaining, aren’t you? — Spacelunch grinned, deftly bypassing the debris and intertwined roots that poked out from under the asphalt.

Suddenly, a glow flashed before them, gradually taking the form of a palm-sized transparent crystal. It floated in the air, surrounded by silver lining that wove into intricate patterns, like a network of ancient runes. The symbols on its facets, flickering, cast soft reflections on the debris around them. As the professor slowly reached out his hand, the crystal shone brighter, and the low whisper of distant voices cut through the silence. Their minds were enveloped by the echoes of past events, filling their minds with images of the vanished world.

The friends froze for a moment, overwhelmed by shock and a sense of profound change.

— Well, — said Cat, not hiding his surprise. — It seems we've gotten a little smarter.
— A little? Now we have what has been lost for an era.
— So, we have a new adventure ahead of us. Where do we start?

The ghost town, once seemingly lifeless, now seemed to come to life: every collapsed building and every corner sparked with traces and clues as if the world itself was holding its breath, waiting for a sign.

A circle is endless. There is no beginning and no defined end. And whilst there has been a beginning for Jannowitz Records, there is no foreseeable end whatsoever. That is why the Circle compilation could not fit better to the current situation of the Cologne based label. For this particular Compilation. Jannowitz main freaks BOHO selected artists and some banger tracks to celebrate the staircase to heaven that we are climbing at this very moment....

US underground DJ Eric Louis from New York contributes even two tracks (West Side Highway and Doorway To The Days) that contain exciting build ups, distorted patterns and hi-hats that give both tracks a dark and evil touch.

Nat Monday's Waiting - such an incredible vocal from the early 2000s which to me was the peak of progressive house - particularly the Creamer & K remix which I borrowed.  

This single found a home on many compilations like Global Underground Moscow mixed by the legendary Deep Dish.

I wanted to give this tune a second life in my collection so it was time for the un-official remix treatment.
