In That Pressure Zone-DJ ERV 2013

Hailing from Manhattan’s Lower East Side, DJ ERV started his DJ / Producer career at the age of 15. Influenced early on by Tony Humphries, Erv listened faithfully on a weekly basis to Tony’s radio shows on Kiss FM. Erv considered Tony his mentor and his style represents what he learned from him. Early on in Erv’s career he played for a lot of neighborhood block parties, private parties (weddings, proms etc.) His first gig came in 1986 at famed New York City’s Paladium. This event led him to soon hook up with Keith Haring and develop a close friendship with him and subsequently played for a lot of Keith’s private and public parties.
For the next few years soon after DJ Erv played at a number of venues: Nells, MK’s, Sticky Mike’s, Bond Street Café, The World, Studio Studio, just to name a few.  His continued friendship with Keith Haring led into the 90’s and he traveled with him to London where he had the opportunity to play at the Limelight UK and several other venues during his stay there.
During the 90’s DJ Erv spent a lot of time at NYC Clubs such as Zanzibar, Sound Factory Bar, The World, Redzone, Body & Soul. Throughtout the 90’s he continued to do guest spots at some of NYC’s underground night clubs such as The Shelter, Frank’s Lounge and The Duplex.  DJ Erv became an avid collector of vinyl. Some of his favorite places to get vinyl from were NYC’s Dance Tracks, Vinyl Mania and Rock& Soul.
In the 2000’s he started to learn the production aspect of the music. John Mateo (Mateo & Matos) & Scott Wozniak were big influences on him while he was learning the art of production and shortly thereafter he co – remixed a project with John Mateo called “Sing It” by Pete Simpson.
In 2006 he moved to Miami where he organized many events with his Miami partner David Solero. Erv also got involved with WMC (Winter Music Conference) and soon started doing events for WMC as well. Louie Vega, Josh Milan, David Harness, DJ Spinna, Tony Humphries, Jovonn, Tony Loredo, Jihad Muhammad, Wayne Gardiner, Tony V, Lou Gorbea, Doc Link, Romain, Ndina Gaba, Adam Rios, Duce Martinez, Scott Wozniak, Filsonik, Carlos Mena and Zephrin Saint are just some of the folks that Erv has had the opportunity to work with.
DJ Erv is currently residing in Washington, DC and has a residency at Tap & Parlour in downtown DC. He has also helped format Pressure Radio. He has been with them a total of 7 years and does 2 weekly shows Friday 7-9PM and Saturday 3-6PM, as well as a midday mix Wed-Fri from 11-1PM. Erv’s production company is Deep Down Productions, he is currently working on a solo EP “ The Sound Within”. Erv will also continue to do his own events at WMC 2013.
