Gilles Peterson Presents Radio 1's Worldwide - LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad - Broadcast - Tuesday 18th July 2000 - Live From Bar Rumba, London

One of my favourite sets of all-time here from LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad live from Bar Rumba in London and broadcast on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Show in July 2000. I am not sure of the exact date of the recording but took a stab at it based on some of things Gilles said in his commentary

This set really tells a story about Bukem and everything that his influenced him, his Good Looking records label and it's sub-labels over the years. You will find everything in this set from Jazz/Funk classics through to Hip Hop through to early Acid House classics through to his own Drum and Bass classics.

The mixing in the set is even more amazing as apparently Giles states that the left-hand pitch control wasn't working on the decks at the time but Bukem carried on with his set anyway :-0

** UPDATE - I now found out that this was recorded at Chambers Wine Bar in Worcester , UK.

Never been able to ID where exactly it was recorded although it does sound similar to the sets he was playing down in London at that time (e.g. in places like the GLR nights at the Ministry Of Sound, Shepherds Bush Empire etc).

Anyway enjoy an hours worth of Bukem and Conrad on top form.

Despite my love for Intelligent Drum and Bass that can be found in the majority of mixes here on my Mixcloud profile the foundation for the music I love now started back in the rave days from late days of 91 onwards with the Old Skool Hardcore that was playing back then which eventually became jungle techno in 92 and 93 and early jungle in 94.

It struck me that I haven't played a set of these sort of sounds in quite a while so here is a quick 1 hour mix of those styles.

Intelligent Drum and Bass 39 (1995-2024) - Mixed By Gary Scott - 16th March 2024

Haven't been online much as I have become pretty disillusioned with social media in general (and unfortunately even with the music pages which contain more and more negativity these days that just grinds you down man) but I digress as the constant stream of quality deep atmospheric beats has continued unabated so I have been determined for a while to get a number of these tracks in to a mix for my own listening hopefully some of you that have checked my mixes in the past will enjoy it to.

Lots of upfront Atmospheric Beats here from 2 of the strongest labels out there putting out quality beats - Spatial and Curvature with superb cuts from Chronicle (Tim Cant), JLM Productions (Jamie Myerson), ASC and the legendary Aural Imbalance and not forgetting a top notch double A-Side from ASC on Over Shadow !!

Some classics from Aquasky also feature in the set, one that's a real fave of mine on the remix of a Forces Of Nature classic and I round off the set with a superb remix of his own track Aurora from Pete 'Voyager' Parsons and wrapping up the set with the epic Graviton from Omni Label owner and Atmospheric Champion for years - Eschaton.

It's been a little while since my last mix and there have been some great new releases and releases of previously unreleased material (in the meantime) of Atmospheric Beats to soothe the soul and mind so I thought I was time get on the dex and press record.    The set below is the result.

In the mix you can find previously unreleased gems from Voyager, Nookie, Big Bud, Rantoul and Law & Wheeler on the immense Will Of The Universe LP recently released by Okbron.    

Stunning unreleased tracks from Primary Motive/Motive One (Danny C & Mike Pears) from Bukem's sets at the golden-era Logical Progression nights in the mid to late nineties also feature (with The Truth and I feel it being real favourites of mine).

Spatial keep progressing to another level with new forthcoming releases from ASC & Aural Imbalance.

Photek makes a return to making 160bpm Jungle beats with his forthcoming track Breathe.

And finally (last but not least) there are some new Atmospheric Beats from Non-Rev, Marc Renton, Archologies, Eschaton, Woken Balance & TRC 2 on the amazing recently released Cosmic Gallery LP on Omni Music.

Pirate Studio Sessions 4 - 26th April 2025 - Mixed By Gary Scott B2B Paul Lynam B2B Daniel Boast

A couple of months since my last mix and a spare couple of hours this weekend it was time for a mix on the more Atmospheric side of beatz.

The set starts with possibly one of the most sought after unreleased tracks of all time with the mindblowing Revelations by Tango (RIP) and Fallout.    I have been after this since I heard it out in 1993/1994 so amazing that Creative Wax have finally released this.

Getting straight bang up to date after this with the seminal Spheres by Leon Mar (the whole EP is criminally underated in my humble opinion and it's really nice to see this legendary artist releasing new music).   The set also features an Amen Smasher called Acellular from the same EP.

Also featured in the set are forthcoming tracks from Chronicle, Aural Imbalance and ASC on Spatal.    Definitely turning into one of these "buy on sight" labels these days for modern Atmospheric D&B.

There are also a couple of slammers from Blame on VNR with Hologram (Massive tune during the Logical Progression night back in the day in the late 90's)  and Close Your Eyes.

There are some golden era classics from Phaze 1 (Photek), Doc Scott and Futurebound as well as modern remixes on Odysee of Source Direct and Phaze 1.

Finally there are a couple of very deep cuts from the prolific Greekboy whose LP on Omni Music is highly recommended and did not disappoint.

Ad-hoc Jungle and D&B mix here mixed by myself and Paul Lynam mixed back to back on 28th June 2025 and just uploaded.   Even though I am known for my love of Atmospherics (and there are plenty of newish Atmospherics in this mix) I also like other more full on Jungle & DNB styles also (as does Paul) so you will find everything in this mix from Jungle Classics from 1994 through to Techstep through to Liquid through to Atmospherics in this set - the Full Spectrum of Jungle & DNB - just playing what we like with no particular plan seeing where the set takes us.

Spare couple of hours free this week meant it was time to go straight on the decks to go through the latest Atmosphericals and record Part 44 of my Intelligent Drum & Bass mixseries.

Mostly upfront tracks included in this set with the occassional classic thrown in as always.   Really enjoyed mixing this and zoning out for a couple of hours  to this beautiful music that was deeply embedded in my soul since I first heard it in the mid 90's and still is today !
