Recently launched French label, Seclusion is back for its second outing. The inaugural release by Detroit’s HLX-1 garnered impressive support from DJs and the media including Bandcamp’s Best Electronic Music in May, and plays in Titonton Duvante’s XLR8R podcast, Dave Clarke’s White Noise, James Ruskin’s EPM podcast, Ben Sims’ Run It Red show, Rolando’s Better Days mix and Tom Ravenscroft’s BBC 6 Music show.

But one of the ‘Come To Me’ EP’s standouts was in fact the remix by 13130 Space Project, which is the DJ and production moniker of Seclusion founders, Damien Lapéna and Anouar Hemissi. Now they return with an EP of their own, entitled ‘International Problem’.

‘International Problem’ features two originals – the title track and ‘Kismet’ which enforce their love of deep tech with interstellar leanings and a nod to Detroitesque techno. Forming a further bond with the Motor City, they enlist Blaktony who has been a member within various groups and collectives, including Optic Nerve, early Aux 88, Aux Men, Alien FM and Scan7, to deliver a remix that bridges the gap between Techno Bass and Electro.

DJ Godfather (Brian Jeffries) is one of the founding fathers of the Detroit Ghettotech scene. Godfather started DJing at the age of 15 and within a few months was already playing in clubs and after-hour parties across the Motor City.

By the age of 17 DJ Godfather had started making music and a year later, released his first solo record on Twilight 76 (the label he started with DJ Dick and Brian Gillespie).

The creation of other labels followed, including the influential Databass, which he revived in 2018. With a career spanning nearly 3 decades, Godfather continues to deliver the goods as well as supporting new Detroit talent, as his Godfather moniker implies.

Last year Godfather dropped his 'Electro Beats For Freaks' 44 track bombshell, well, he's back, this time with a brand new 46 track 'This Detroit Thing Of Ours' album, featuring singles and collaborations with some of the very best in the business.

The album features 46 tracks and like his last album, they segue into one another, until the series of EPs on vinyl (and digital) which will follow featuring full length versions and different mixes of some of the album's tracks.

DJ Godfather (Brian Jeffries) is one of the founding fathers of the Detroit Ghetto Tech scene, but has gone on to be so much more over a career that spans almost 3 decades. For those wanting an insight into Ghetto Tech, head to track 38, 'It's Ghetto Tech' featuring Dan Diamond which draws a line under the many questions posed to Godfather over the years about the genre. The album also includes three scratch tracks, '1200's Are Lit', 'Table Terrorist' and the even more aptly named 'Assassin On The Decks' as this king of turntablism keeps the culture alive.

The album throws up even more variety with Electro, Techno and House beats making an appearance alongside collaborations with DJ Deeon, Goodmoney G100, King Saaidi, Gettoblaster & Missy, Lil Mz 313, Ricky Burns, JPE, Parkhouse and Dan Diamond.

Now back with a brand-new album, DJ Godfather breaks all the rules. Godfather has had a very successful career over the years. Voted 15th best DJ in America by the readers of DJ Times and Pioneer Pro DJ for 2011 and in 2012 out of the top 100, best DJ in Detroit by Real Detroit magazine 5 years in a row (2008-2013), and is now the Red Bull Thre3stlye champion of Detroit for 2013! With sponsorships from Serato and Native Instruments, Godfather currently released an expansion pack entitled Dirty Knock for the iMaschine and Maschine, the industry standard drum machine by Native Instruments with endorsements from Diplo, Lil Jon, Steve Aoki, Disco Fries, Danny Daze, DJ Fuck and more. He plays it all from open format/mashup parties to  house to the deepest trap, ghetto tech and juke parties incorporating his battle style turntablism in his sets. He has played across the globe numerous times in cities all over Europe, Asia, Australia, United States, Canada, China, Japan and South America and receives worldwide recognition.

Lets take a look at it from the beginning!:

DJ Godfather is considered one of the founding fathers of the genre we now know as Ghetto Tech. He started DJing at the age of 15 with the help of, now business partner, DJ Dick. Within a few months of getting his turntables, Godfather was already playing in nightclubs and after hour parties all over Detroit. He started producing at the age of 17 for his first Miami Bass style group Bass Association. With the buzz of a few singles off the Bass Association album on 3 Detroit radio stations, Godfather made his first solo record at the age of 18 on the now Twilight 76 Records entitled "Work Dat". Taking his turntablism skills and mixing Detroit Techno music with Miami Bass music, and new sound was born, Ghetto Tech. With the formation of their new record label Twilight 76 with partners DJ Dick and Brian Gillespie, he took his talent and turned it into an entire business creating 3 other labels known as Databass Records, D.E.T. Only (An exclusive label with only 1000 copies of each release), and Juke Trax (A label dedicated to the Chicago style of Ghetto House and Juke music). With all 4 record labels combined, Godfather and his partners released over 250 vinyl releases and mix CD releases, selling over 800,000 units worldwide. You can hear DJ Godfather tracks on the 2 videos games, NBA 2K6 and NBA 2K7 on 2K Sports. He was also the first DJ to be released on the Serato digital download series, using Scratch Live technology and tracks only available digitally for a mix cd entitled "For The Freaks". With 12" vinyl record sales slowing down over the past years, Godfather and his partners stopped pressing vinyl and embraced the digital download world with their own digital distribution company and 2 online MP3 stores, Secretremixes.com for Mashups and DJ Remixes along with Electrobounce.com for Trap, Ghetto Tech, Electro, Techno and Juke music. They also started Soundbully, A digital distribution company that offers digital distribution to over 187 MP3 stores and ring tone carriers worldwide.

Godfather is also producing under 2 other names. Don Dada which is a duo group with DJ Zebo out of Chicago incorporating trap music with juke, ghetto tech and electro house with 4 turntables in their live sets. Reviews have been fantastic as they already played Movement in Detroit and Spring Awakening in Chicago along with some other big music festivals. The other allis is Detroit Muscle which is strictly house music. Having remixed artists such as Lil Jon, Diplo, Aston Shuffle (Ministry Of Sound), Bad Boy Bill and more!

Recent projects Godfather has been involved in are remixes for Laidback Luke' "Pogo", Dizzee Rascal's "Bassline Junkie" and Baauer's "Harlem Shake which have all made the #1 monthly downloaded track on Serato's Whitelable.net and the 40 Oz Profits, making it in the top 100 on Beatport. Don Dada is also ready to release their Debut single "Rock Ya Whole Block" along with 2 follow up tracks.
