Simon Green aka Bonobo returns with one of the key cuts from his forthcoming album, 'Black Sands'. Drawing as much on the rhythms of two-step as the lush soundscapes for which he’s best known, 'Eyesdown' also features a remarkable vocal from Andreya Triana and enough fuzzed-out sub-bass for a binful of dubsteppers. Classic and contemporary, melancholy and exhilarating all at once, 'Eyesdown' sounds like the kind of record Massive Attack could be making if they were starting out now.

Remix duties are taken care of by Floating Points and Warrior One. Floating Points got his break at London’s renowned CDR Sessions a couple of years back. Since then his re-edits have been picked up and championed by the likes of Gilles P and Joy Orbison. Here, he stretches the original out into a broken ballad, the vocals increasingly disembodied, the keyboards playing robot soul. Warrior One, meanwhile, give it some of their trademark ravement vibrations. Whilst Appleblim & Komonazmu do a dubbed out warm minimal version.

It’s the orignal, though, that will keep drawing the listener back – strange, beatufiul, heartfelt and memorable, 'Eyesdown' is a key staging post in Green’s continuing, remarkable musical development.

The road less travelled - a small selection of diverse, offbeat tunes, ranging from obscure Brazilian soundtracks to French orchestral to West Coast soul, Hungarian and Argentinian jazz to electronica and Native American soul-jazz.

The main criteria was: beautiful but different. Some personal edits of slightly oddball but exquisite stuff. Different, yes, but definitely enticing. Like quinoa and bulgur getting down with kale and hemp on a giant organic cucumber. You know... addictive. An excuse to do something different and also to delve into the deeper corners of my collection. 

Oh fuggit... I admit it, I dug out a bunch rare treats just so I'd have an excuse to put "Gone Feral" in a mix ;p

I think I'll do a club mix for dancing next, house/disco...something that actually represents what I play out ;p

The Return Of The Classic is the return of Greek beat-master Mister T. to the Cold Busted label, and he certainly explores a classic sound. Based in Athens, Greece, Mister T. has long been transmitting the jazzier side of downtempo hip hop, with top notch jams that are soulful, swinging, and undeniably funky. This album is the latest in a string of Mister T. collections on Cold Busted … as prolific as Mister T. is, his quality never falters and the tunes don’t disappoint. The Return Of The Classic contains a multitude of magical dance floor moments, including the bluesy skank of “Break My Back”, the breakdance funk of “Put The Needle On”, the high energy horn section groove of “Elephant”, and the title track’s shuffling big beat and stew of crafty samples.
