🎧 DJ Reado — Decoded Magazine Submission: “Journeys in Sound”

This mix is everything I love about house and electronic music — emotion, groove, and story.  I’m DJ Reado, born from the Liverpool–Manchester club scene — 3 Beat Records, Cream, Bowlers, the Essential Mix era. Those nights taught me that the best DJ sets are journeys: sunrise to sunset, calm to chaos, motion to meaning.

It begins in stillness — waves, vinyl hiss, the hum of life — before unfolding into deep, melodic, and cinematic house. Inspired by artists like Jasper Tygner, Floating Points, David Orin, Nōpi, Synthetra, and Model Man, this sound world blends organic warmth with modern precision — fluttery, choppy, stretched textures that feel like breath and heartbeat woven into rhythm.

I listened to over a thousand tracks, digging through Bandcamp, Rivoli, and small boutique labels to find hidden gems that feel alive — working hard to avoid commercial/known, every inclusion had to serve the story.

The journey moves from ambient introspection to melodic flow, through progressive momentum and sunlight energy, then returns to reflection. It opens by the sea and ends back at the shore — a full-circle experience of motion, memory, and meaning. Think Floating Points at dawn, Tygner’s shimmer at sunrise, Nōpi’s dreamscapes by afternoon, and Model Man’s pure human groove by evening.

Every transition was shaped for flow and feeling — chasing that moment when sound becomes storytelling. For me, DJing has always been about emotion over ego, connection over perfection. I did aim for perfection to my best ability, i hope you enjoy.

Wherever you are — eyes closed, headphones on, or driving at sunset — I hope you feel the same thing I did while making it: that beautiful sense of movement, memory, and meaning.

This mix is a one-hour progressive house journey built around motion, emotion, and transformation. Crafted using four-channel layering, it weaves evolving rhythms and melodic textures into a constantly shifting landscape where sounds overlap, dissolve, and re-emerge with new meaning.

The intention was to create a sense of continuity and evolution, allowing each moment to flow naturally into the next. Subtle loops, textures, and recurring themes connect the mix beneath the surface, forming an invisible thread that carries the listener forward.

It tells a story of contrast: tension and calm, shadow and light, anticipation and release. Every transition serves the narrative rather than the formula, shaping an immersive experience that rewards close listening.

This is not a collection of tracks but a living sequence, an emotional journey told through sound and space.

Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month November Submission – ROLEAD

Selected as a Top 10 runner-up in November’s Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month competition.

This mix was born from an idea that stayed with me for years, the desire to connect two worlds that shaped my taste: the dark, hypnotic edge of Bedrock and the atmospheric, melodic warmth of Anjunadeep.

When I became a new father earlier this year, the timing finally felt right. I spent weeks digging through two decades of releases to shape a journey that mirrors the emotional highs and lows of that chapter in my life.

Six custom RÜFÜS DU SOL mashups act as subtle emotional through-lines, carrying the mix from tension to release. As always, I like to work with a lot of tracks, long blends, and quick, intentional handovers. And yes, I really did track every parameter of the mix in Excel.

Decoded Magazine - Mix of the Month - November - DJ Reado

Producing and DJing music since the 90's. Father and promoter of Club Clockwork. Mostly into Deep, melodic and progressive house & trance.

Johan Li is a Finnish DJ and electronic music artist whose career spans almost 30 years across the worlds of deep, melodic and progressive house, trance and techno. Starting in 1994–95, Johan began DJ’ing at just 15 and soon became an active part of Finland’s early dance music movement. As a member of the eurodance group Base Project, released through Edel, he contributed to a sound many later described as one of the foundations of Finland’s emerging dance scene. Base Project shared stages with acts like Paradisio and became a defining part of that era’s youthful electronic energy.

From 2000 to 2004, Johan ran his own monthly clubnight Clockwork — a forward-thinking concept that brought Finnish, UK and Scandinavian artists to the same stage in Seinäjoki at a time when curated electronic club culture outside major cities was rare. Clockwork recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, marked by a major event featuring DJ Orkidea.

Throughout the years, Johan has performed at various events, while continuously refining a sound defined by atmosphere, emotion and evolution. His sets are built intentionally — breathing, developing and telling a story rather than following trends.
