Afro Latin Funk Mix

This is one heavy slab of dirty funk.

The a-side is an absolute BRASS monster of a track titled "Harrow."  A cut that gallops from the first hits of the snare drum to the blaring sounds of horns, ultimately making our aural universe a better place.  The b-side, titled "Nautilus (Hijacked)," is an instrumental cover of sorts, containing recreated hooks from "Nautilus" (Bob James) and "Hijack" (Enoch Light), which were famously sampled by Slick Rick (Children's Story) and The Beatnuts (Watch Out Now) among others.

"Borneo fits into the category of what I call "super jazz", ie: Jazz that is great for everyone and every "body". It's taken from Cal Tjader's early 60's LP; 'Several Shades Of Jade' on Verve. The back of the jacket states: "The sound and feeling of the music of the Orient combine with the freedom of American Jazz"  and I featured it on my 'Funk The World 13' mix for Fort Knox Five. This edit (really a remix, but the terminology has changed lately) is part of a new series I'll be doing called "G got the Jazz"; a result of people really yearning to hear & dance to some different & amazing sounds. There is a TONNE of awesome, potentially danceable Jazz music that can really keep the party going IF given the right treatment (drums & sub bass in this instance). Having first been used in Hip Hop by Daddy Kev for his track with Awol; "Rhythm", this edit is a sureshot winner for eclectic dj's and crowds the world over. DJ Jumps, best known for his work with seminal Australian band The Cat Empire, has found himself occupying a unique position in the world of DJs and turntablists. 
	After 15 years of touring the globe, playing the intensely rhythmic and highly eclectic music that The Cat Empire is known for, Jumps has come into contact with musicians from  many different cultures. In Melbourne, Barcelona, New York or Havana, his own knowledge, both as a performer and as a listener, has been enriched and deepened by this journey.
	The record crates have piled up over the years. An appreciator of all good music, especially that which is driven by funky drums and percussion, DJ Jumps has dedicated himself to finding the best dance floor music from across the globe, with an emphasis on African and Latin rhythms.
	There are many different beats to dance to in this world. DJ Jumps brings them all together, onto the dance floor, in his quest for universal funkiness.
