Now is the time for Montreal’s emerging artist DJ Kayssy, aka Ketty Cédat. Making the move from private performances into the public spotlight, Kayssy is ready to wow big crowds with her confident sound, fiery energy, and infectious beats. And armed with a childhood fondness of beatboxing and a life-long passionate love for dancing, her lively music is sure to have crowds up and grooving.
	Epic beats and lush melodies have always been a central feature of Kayssy’s world. Born in the cultural hub Montreal in the mid 80s, DJ Kayssy grew up in a household where loud music and dance parties were a Friday night tradition. Her parents filled her world with music and dance. In their younger years, Kayssy’s father played drums and the harmonica for two bands, and her mother danced in a Haitian folk group. Their love for dance and music passed to their daughter, and her older siblings introduced her to the beats and sounds of the 70s and 80s. But it was the house parties where Kayssy learned the power of a DJ.
	These beats and early experiences directly shaped Kayssy’s music. She places a great emphasis on drums in her mixes, and her modern African beat flare creates an ingenious dynamic layer within her tracks. It is this ability to blend sounds and rhythms seamlessly together that speaks volumes about her ability as a DJ. And her intimate familiarity of dance means that her tracks will bring any party to life.
	Working in the financial industry during the day, DJ Kayssy is also very active in her community. She is currently a board member of Pride Montreal. And it is her love for her community and people that flows out through her music.
