PREMIERE: London Modular Alliance - Lump of Coal [20/20 Vision]

Ten years ago, when the enthusiastic minds of Dodo, Emir and Neven came together, one of the crews was born that has remained a fond memory for all of us. This crew quickly became the epicenter of electronic music in Zagreb, organizing various events, from the first events at Das Haus to foreign guest appearances to outdoor events and festivals. Dodo (@dodo001)  is one of the founders of the Deep'n'out collective, which hosted many DJs of dangerous caliber, such as Moomin, Ben Cohen, Benedikt Frey, Fred P and many others.

Mix for VHS Podcast is an exploration of new and old sounds, be it electronic music, African rhythms or other genres, without too much planning, simply as a journey through what suits him at the moment. It's, he says, one of the sets that best reflects what he's been playing before.

Five months since the release of ‘Fata Morgana I‘, German label Collateral Series gear up to issue their second extended player from Spanish producer Vasco Ispirian...Our pick is ‘Flashing On Flushing‘ – a mesmerising slice of dub techno starting with a bass-driven groove backed by thumping kick drums, before leading to spaced-echoed soundscapes and a superstorm of streaking hi-hats. At the beginning of the second minute, the track reaches a high point capped by a hyper-acid crescendo.

DJ Shadow, widely acknowledged as a crucial figure in the development of experimental, instrumental hip-hop, has returned with ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ via Mass Appeal Records [and Believe Digital in France], his first full length release since 2011. The 12-track album finds DJ Shadow exploring new realms in addition to the deep samples and kinetic soundscapes that helped to launch his career 20 years ago. On ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ he’s shifted further toward original composition, a vast experimentation of beats and textures, synthesizers and live instruments including horns and woodwinds. The 3rd bomber of the monthly digital single series that begun in September 2011 is set to go. Another KRUSH sound where his signatory heavvvy bass line mingles complexly but harmonizes with the rhythm. What he had depicted in his mind was a belief in one's self to proceed a way, within darkness, confused, and no trace of light from where the road leads to. As if to express the current state of the world we live in, the track turned out to be a real meaty one with unmeasurable depth.
