This time 'round I'm bringing it back to basics with classic hip-hop samples and breaks from the "golden-era" of rap sampling with a few splashes of the unknown in-between: funk, soul, jazz, soundtracks, library joints and drum breaks from all corners of the globe, cut up on the 1's and 2's in one take.

DJ Premier’s catalog is incredible. If he was only known for his work with Gangstarr, he’d still be considered a Top 3 producer of all time, easily. But the fact that he’s worked with everyone from Biggie to Jay-Z to Nas to KRS-One makes his discography pretty much incomparable. And we’re not talking about obscure cuts that lost their appeal years ago. These are timeless songs! So for today’s edition of The 10s, we present Primo Treats: 10 Classic Non-Gangstarr Primo Joints. We’ll probably have to do a part two and three to this because dude has worked with everyone we love and always comes correct. All praises due to DJ Premier, thank you for all the music you’ve given us. It’s our pleasure to celebrate the work you’ve put in. I guess right now we should start the show.

My new "situation" has afforded me much more time to work on mixes than I had before.  I am currently sitting on four completed mixes and on the cusp of finishing a fifth.  Of course, all will be released at some later date.  I'm not sure why I'm taking so long to let go of these mixes, but I am.  Mix hoarder?  Whatever you want to call it, here's the first step toward rehabilitation.  Samples/breaks used to create the masterpiece that is Supreme Clientele, mixed like you've come to expect from Pipomixes. Supreme Breaks

All tracks from artists from the boogie down: the birthplace of this hip-hop thing. I didn't take it to the 70's and 80's because, to me, the artists in this mix really created and pioneered that underground Bronx sound. Basically, all tracks taken from  the "Diggin in the Crates" crew and affiliates discographies. Selections either feature a beat from a Bronx-born producer (Buckwild, Lord Finesse, Ahmad, Showbiz, etc.) or rapper (Fat Joe, KRS-One, and so on). Yeah, I know, Big L, O.C., and Milano aren't from the Bronx (I'm 99.9% sure Sadat X is), but they've been known to murder a Buckwild / Lord Finesse / Showbiz beat or two. Take the train uptown.
