Following on from his Anjunadeep Explorations debut last summer, emerging German DJ/producer Ben Böhmer returns to the label for his first solo outing with a trio of melodic weapons on ‘Morning Falls EP’. The EP opens with the rolling melodies of ‘Morning Falls’ before drifting into peak time club cut ‘After Earth’. Böhmer rounds off the EP with the laid back grooves of ‘Velvet Rebellion’ which also features his friend and frequent collaborator Wood.

After topping the Beatport chart and landing his first ‘Essential New Tune’ on BBC Radio 1 with his debut Anjunadeep EP ‘Morning Falls’, German wunderkind Ben Böhmer returns with the new ‘Dive EP’. A showcase of his trademark lush progressive sound, Ben’s sophomore EP on the label demonstrates his penchant for emotional melodies and masterful production.

Featuring the intoxicating vocals of Margret, opener ‘Dive’ navigates blissful builds and chord progressions, effortlessly blending in to the abstract ‘Sonnenallee’. This collaboration with Hifi Brother sees Böhmer craft pulsating synth melodies on a backdrop of rhythmic arps. Odd One Out requires me to sometimes release records that are a bit...odd. So after the 2 first releases I decided it’s time to unleash a hint of Gouda. The track asks ”Is This Trance?” and is fuelled by some gargantuan bouncy saw riffs that I picked up from my 13-year old brain which at the time was listening to Southside Spinners and Gatecrasher compilations. Slightly slower and more mature, like some of my favourite cheeses are, this is quite close to musical Gorgonzola with some hedonistic grapes.
