Heidi Sabertooth (@heidisabertooth) and Drakkar Noir (aka R Gamble @rgamble) are both core members of Lost Soul Enterprises (@lost-soul-enterprises), a New York based label and platform for analog experiments and mutant sounds past and present: wave, electro, body music, and all things in between. This EP represents the first time these two artists have appeared together on the same release.

The title of the EP, 'The Sleep of Reason' is inspired by the famous Goya etching (The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters).  It is intended as both a homage to a visionary artist and a reflection that the sentiment in the artwork resonates particularly today.

Both artists approach music production using primarily analog hardware and synthesizers, rather than computers. 

'The Sleep of Reason' showcases two well-seasoned artists flexing a mastery of their machines, delivering subterranean electro, techno and body music. Gritty, murky basslines meet squelching melodies and alien vocals, all with the vibrant, present, live-wire energy of a hardware set performed in a smoky, crowded basement, rather than programmed within the confines of a studio.

Within you'll find a healthy mix of 90's prog house, big beat, leftfield techno & garage, ideal for late-night excursions into the depths of a club. This extremely smooth orchestration of tracks is testament to the talented scene developing on the west-coast, and through his scintillating recent productions 'Fugue State' and  'Drop that', Aphid flexes some finesse.

Aphid is one-third of Boorloo/Perth party collective/record label Backtrack (@backtrackperth), who are known for their out of the box club nights & warehouse events. With his first impressive release of 'Redial EP' on Backtrack mid-way through 2020, Aphid isn't slowing down any time soon - with more pencilled in for release later this year. We are super excited for this mix and will eagerly await more from the talented maestro.
