It all began when Biomigrant, an outstanding US-born, Colombia based downtempo and world music producer, went on tour in Chile for the summer of 2020, winding up in Pucón as borders closed due to the pandemic craziness, which extended his stay from weeks to months. 
Through the fall he learned about the edible wonderland of the southern Chilean forests in autumn, and as winter came he moved to a small clearing in the woods, where he was Derrok’s neighbor. They made the most of the time working on music together, weathering the rains with hot cups of cocoa in the studio.
The EP brings together 4 songs that grew from the adventures of Biomigrant and Derrok over this period, recording ambient sounds while hiking to frozen lakes and watching the sunrise above snow tipped araucarias.

Todo comenzó cuando Biomigrant, destacado productor norteamericano residente en Colombia, viajó a Chile a una minigira en el verano del 2020 que culminó en Pucón justo en el comienzo de la pandemia, causando que su estadía por el país se dilatará de unas semanas a varios meses, aprendiendo de las bondades comestibles del sur de Chile en otoño y soportando las intensas lluvias durante el invierno.
En este último periodo fue vecino de Derrok, con quien decidieron que era la mejor situación para crear música en conjunto, mientras capeaban las lluvias tomando chocolate caliente dentro del estudio. 
El EP cuenta con cuatro canciones relacionadas a las aventuras de Biomigrant y Derrok en el sur de Chile durante ese periodo, grabando sonidos ambientales durante las caminatas invernales a lagunas congeladas y contemplando el amanecer junto a los cantos de las aves.

About Tórtolas

The sound of Turtledoves fluttering above my house signals the arrival of good weather....
They return in spring and always fly to create the nest in the same place as the previous year. Their sound with a continuous rhythm inspires me tranquillity... calm... peace... a great gift in the times we live in.

Mû Mbana, composer and performer of multiple stringed instruments with which he spreads tones and aromas of Africa around the world. A native of Bolama Island in Guinea-Bissau, he grew up influenced by the religious chants of the women of the Brame (Macanha) and Bijagos (Bidjugu) ethnic groups. Mû is one of the people who pushed me the most to take this project forward, and he has also been in charge of the vocals on this track.

I was also lucky to have the collaboration of Theodoros Koumartzis on Greek lyre, and Sergio Di Finizio on electric bass. Cid Napalma, Wellington Coelho and Morgan Stern added percussion from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The release is completed with an alternative version with vocals by Laizä, an artist from Los Barrios, Cádiz, based in Madrid, and remixes by the Colombian artist Ruido Selecto, the Galicians Terrae and the Catalan producer of Mexican origin MiRET.

Jackson was born in Paraíba, Brazil,  his mother, Flora Mourão, was a musician and singer who played several percussion instruments. As a child he had originally wanted to play the accordion, but his parents could not afford it and bought him a pandeiro, a type of tambourine, in its place. When Jackson was 13 years old his family moved to Campina Grande, a city in Paraíba. After the move, Jackson lived in João Pessoa, where he performed in various cabarets and on the radio; and also to Recife, where he eventually began working in a radio station and took the pseudonym of Jackson do Pandeiro. Originally his mother had nicknamed him "Jack", after the actor Jack Perry, who played parts in cowboy films which were popular in Brazil during Jackson's youth.
