MIX KIZ IN THE SIX 2019 DJ EXCEL

📙Born in Haiti, as a DJ I want to share with you a mix which display what we consider as one if not the greatest era in Konpa world wide. A bit more than 30 years ago a movement named Konpa << Nouvel Jenerasyon >> was born and this movement to many is basically what shaped Konpa to what it is today on a global scale.

💢💢KONPA NOUVEL JENERASYON💢💢

🕰⏳Time frame: Mainly from late 80’s to the early 2000’s

📺🎧Influences: Zouk, Pop, Hip Hop, commercial sounds.

🎯🎯Goal: Novel Jenerasyon goal was to create a more commercial approach in the music industry and gain back the younger generation which was significantly decreasing due the rise of pop culture at that time (Rap, Pop, Reggae). In the Kreyol world, Zouk was eating a lot of terrain and the Konpa Nouvel Jenerasyon movement was the answer especially for the Haitians who wanted to keep their music alive and relevant to the world wide. In the Diaspora, we started to see the rise of more younger group that basically gave a facelift to Konpa.

🎤🎸Groups or Singers: Zin, Papash, Lakol, Mizik Mizik, Sweet Micky (Michel Martelly), Konpa, Vag, Kreyol, T-Vice, Carimi, Black Parents, K-Dans, Larose, Djakout, Passion, Ti-Kabzy, Daan Junior & the list goes on.

🎼🎼Format & sound characteristics: Limited band size by the use of more electronic equipment such as Drums machine etc. Bass more presence and less live sounded instruments especially for the groups formed in the Diaspora. More catchy hooks, usage of slang or non conventional language. While the Nouvel Jenerasyon incorporated all those influences it still did a good job of keeping the recognizable sound and essence of Konpa.
